Somewhat new to the Vanilla Nexus experience. I'm wondering since there are no UI's (Sense, TouchWiz, Blur, etc) to go over the Nexus line-up, does that mean is't already "rooted" and you can run any custom ROM available?

If so, this phone is basically what you make of it. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

It is not already rooted and it is not already unlocked to run and ROM. But, when I first got my Nexus S, I followed some directions and had it rooted and unlocked to ROM in under 20 minutes. The Nexus phones are extremely easy to both root and unlock for a ROM. It is a matter of typing a few lines of code into the command prompt.

After I learned to root my Nexus S, my brother got one, then I rooted and ROM'd his phone in under 5 minutes.

So no, it does not come Rooted or ROM'd, but it is the easiest to do so.

Any other questions?

I'm actually REALLY liking Blur in the new gingerbread devices (never thought i'd say that, I always just "Dealt" with blur before). I love the hardware in the sammy/nexus phones. Larger than 4.3" screen, better battery life than HTC, NFC etc. I wonder if anyone will port a blur style rom into the Prime? I just really like the added eye candy, the new dialer, built in syncing (mostly facebook) etc. I had a Nexus S that I was using for WIFI only and as much as I loved the device hardware wise, and I love the IDEA of vanilla android, its simply not the same as it was back in the OG droid days. Just seems like theres a lot of refinement in sense(I think its too overbearing), touchwiz, blur etc.

Shame bionic is so late/such a crappy screen or I would just pick one up.

Since we have no idea what ICS will look like on the nexus prime it's a little early to be yearning for blur/sense/touchwiz but since nexus phones will be snapped up by the devs, hackers and tweekers out there you can bet that whatever look you want, someone will do a rom for it. Go look at the nexus one and nexus s forums at xda for an idea of the variety that the prime will be experiencing.

Yea. I mean obviously there will be rom Support with speed, eye candy, free tether etc. Im just not sure it can all be integrated as well, or as deep, as some of the modern custom skins. I've seen functional roms that are better than oem, but it never seems... I don't know...the same as if it were oem to begin with. Even the rims highly praised seem buggy, or peiced together etc and never seem to integrate properly deep in the system. But I know im the minority that feels that way. Still excited for the prime, still will probably get it, just overly psyched and pleased with gingerbread blur and even sense on the evo3d.
