I am not huge fan of it either. I would rather have it as a dash mount instead of a windshield mount. And it would be much better with a FM transmitter in it. I feel some other company has to build one that should incorporate this stuff in it.

The lack of an audio out jack combined with the inability to use car bluetooth while docked is a potential dealbreaker for me. My car has bluetooth through its speakers and steering wheel. However, I could forgo that when docked, IF the dock had an audio out jack. Then the speakers would still play the other side of the conversation. This would also make it handy to play music and GPS through the speakers, which I currently do by connecting a cord from the headphone jack to the audio in jack in my car. Presumably the dock would work the same as the desktop dock which would still allow me to play music through the dock if I needed to pick up my phone to do anything while stopped at a light. The fact that I don't see a mention of an audio out jack has me greatly disappointed.

I think the speakers are less for music as they are for reading driving directions out loud.

Yeah - I'd guess that the dock is to make the navigation directions easier to hear with the built in speakers...this dock I'm sure was built like the Droid dock to just be a way to use the Navigation in car easier. I do like that the power plugs in to the base of the mount instead of the phone - makes hiding cords a lot easier.

as for it being only a 'windshield' mount - it's not - look at the PDF and it'll show you it can mount to the dash with the included smooth disc that sticks to your dash.

I already have a smooth disc mounted on my dash from my old TomTom XLS so this will go right there!

I'm keeping the N1 for navigation in the car. I've switched back to my 3GS for daily use.

Mine just arrived. Unpacked it and its nice. Looking forward to using this - it was a major factor in purchasing my N1 (which I love).

I think they should have put an FM transmitter in, but I also think the speaker is NOT for music but for speaker phone and navigation voice.

The reason you're locked with the bluetooth devices is because the phone uses BT to transmit to the speaker in dock. This is easily fixed with custom ROMs.

Haven't even put it in my car yet but...

initial thoughts:
- Range of motion is quite limited. I've never used any in-car mounting for anything before, so I can't compare, but it's much less "adjustable" than I would have imagined. Will this matter in actual use? I don't think so, but we'll find out.

$55 seems a bit high to me. Especially when it seems like there are a few "issues", and a couple of desirable features are missing.

2. Disable BT pairing for the dock and still keep the phone paired with your car, that way the car speakers handle handsfree?

3. I also saw a post mention that you could pair Nexus --> Dock --> Car and still get A2DP or voice that way? What about voice directions?? That would be the best of both worlds.

Any real users care to reply?

I use a Motorola T605 car kit with mine. You get the option to use the dock for either the speakerphone or for playing music (or both). I elected to use it for neither and instead paired it with my car kit.

The nav audio comes through as music, so it's an either/or proposition.
