Nexus One now has full landscape support. Hopefully car dock is just the start...

Probably the biggest complaint for those using the official Nexus One car dock was that there was no full landscape support. Although, it also is a general complaint as well. Only certain native apps worked in landscape. For example, things like the phone, contact list (unless looking at a specific contact's details), home screen, etc. would only display in portrait even if using the car dock in landscape mode. This made it EXTREMELY annoying to even make a phone call with the phone docked unless you twisted it back to portrait...

But now with Froyo, the Nexus One has been given FULL landscape support. Everywhere from the lock screen and beyond, including homescreen and apps!

So clearly, the functionality is now fully supported. I just REALLY hope that the car dock is just the start and that we get the functionality to use the device landscape at any time in a future update.

Launcher Pro has had landscape support for a while now. Not a whole lot of use, but it's pretty cool to show it off to iPhone users and watch them say, mine can't do that.

Only when mounted in the car dock. I even tried to see if just launching the Car Home app manually would allow it when not in the dock but that didn't work. I'm hoping someone finds the lil switch that needs to be flicked to get us full landscape support out of the dock.

What causes the Nexus One to trigger the car mode in the car dock? On the Moto Droid, it uses small magnets to trigger the car mode. I have been searching all over and I have not found the answer. Thanks to anyone that can answer this.
