Nexus S vs EVO/EVO 3D

There are going to be haters on the Sprint Nexus S due to it being "old" technology (jeez, just read the discussion on Engadget) because it's not dual core, but really, most people don't really care about dual core as long as the phone just works. I just happened to pick up a Nexus S yesterday at BB. Really like the size, the screen, etc. What I am waiting to find out is the battery life on a CMDA version. If it is an improvement over the EVO (and you know the EVO 3D is not going to be better), I will seriously look at the Nexus S. Oh, and the phone (yes, I am old fashioned, I still use my phone to make calls) needs to work well too - something Samsung is not typically known for.

I've grown past the "spec wars" aspect of phones, so I'm leaning toward the Nexus S. I'm curious to know what advantages the Nexus S has over my current EVO. Mainly I'm curious to see about battery life, and I'm getting bored with Sense and wouldn't mind being first with updates.

Anyone know if Sprint Nav will be included? I saw that Google Maps with Navigation will be on it though, how does that work? Never seen it before. I'm seriously considering dumping my Pre- for this phone as HP/Palm isn't coming out with a 4"+ slab phone any time soon. I use my phone as a GPS quite a bit, so I need to make sure it has a good navigation package.
Up in the air between this and the Evo 3d, guess it depends on when the Evo will be available. Hopefully we'll find out tomorrow!

I watched a YouTube comparison, and the two device were almost identical in performance. Battery Life will be the only real difference, maybe. But a extended 3500mAh battery paired with the always solid Evo, Why chance the switch?

It's not so much a Spec as it is just a feature of the phone.. but the 16GB thing really has me bummed out. It's 2011, and it's 6 months after the original and there's STILL only 16GB?? I thought for sure that this phone would be announced with 32. There's a very good chance the next iPhones will be 32/64, and the NxS will have the same storage as the $100 piece of garbage that Apple nearly gives away.

I'm marginally interested in the Evo3D, mostly because it seems like it'll have a real battery, something the Evo and Thunderbolt haven't considered.

Mostly I don't want to go above 4" for a screen and I'm expecting it's Nexus S or nothing on Sprint. Oh and I don't want a keyboard either for useless bulk that I'll never use.

It's such a shame, at 32GB I would have bought this immediately.. now I'll probably see if I can tolerate the EVO's size (I sure didn't before).. but we'll see.

Not sure if Sprint Nav will be included but I went from the Pre to the Epic which does have both sprint Nav and Google Nav and I use Google Nav almost exclusively. It works great, I wouldn't worry too much if Sprint Nav is not included. I just hate that Sprint is taking my premier status away before I can up grade to the Nexus S 4G and reduced cost... That being said, it seems this is only $399 without a contract which seems like a steal. ($199 with $200 contract extension rebate)

Guarantee this won't be $399 off contract. It is going to be a best buy exclusive. BB is notorious for jacking up the off contract prices!

Mostly because my son killed his Pre, and I gave him an old feature phone until it's time for my upgrade and I can pass my EVO on to him.

Before, when I first heard of Sprint Nexus S, I kinda wanted it. But now that there's most likely going to be a EVO 3D, I'm going to go for that one, I miss the 4.3 in screen

Yeah thats what i think...no need for dual core unless it has some super battery saving feature.Im on contract right so im seeing how to get out of contract and get the phone at the subsidized price. I have been with sprint for 7 years so i really dont care about the bootleg premiere they are running.

You can still get it at the Sprint stores, which is where you should be getting it, not at Best Buy. I wouldn't step foot into a Best Buy, there sales people don't know jack ****.

I don't think I will really miss the LED. It turns off after, what? 10 minutes?, so it rarely tells me anything anyway. Even when it is blinking, I still turn on the screen to see what it is (3 email accounts, 2 calendars, phone calls, text).

Me too. I don't think I have ever even launched Sprint Nav - at least not on purpose.

I was hoping atleast go with the Samsung Stealth? Bigger and better screen and I assume sd card support. Nexus s will render my 32gb useless. I've also read Nexus S doesn't support 720p video recording?

I don't think that the specs are outdated at all. Dual core doesn't really mean much right now as others from the Atrix forums are finding out. The Nexus S is a great device. Now compared to my EVO, I wouldn't go for it. I am one of the few that doesn't care for a "vanilla Android" experience. I like Sense. I didn't realize how much I liked Sense until I had experienced some other Android skins. The EVO is where its at. I'm not looking forward to 3D either. I am curious as to the file size of these 3D videos however.

In the fine print on Sprint's page it says $399 2-year contract price -$200 instant rebate, which would make the phone $549 off contract when the $150 2-year contract discount is added in.

Which would also make the phone about $650-700 off contract at Best Buy
