Due for upgrade anytime. I will be saving money going to the new Shared Data Plans so that is not an issue.

NOTE: I am posting here because I am leaning towards the Nexus but have concerns about memory, battery and CAMERA. Thanks to all who help advise me.

I am looking for top line, future proof and fun to use. I am on my phone all the time so battery life is an issue even with the 3 external chargers I own. My phone history after BB Bold on VZW was Droid X, X2, changed me to Droid Charge (hated Touchwiz on this and battery lasted maybe 3 hours max) and then VZW changed me to Incredible 2. Other than small screen the Inc 2 has been decent with incredible battery life. It just isn't enough for me.

I have held the Nexus and SG3 for about 2 minutes each. The SG3 although slimmer seems more fragile than the Nexus.

My big concern is without a memory card i won;t be able to store all the pictures I want to keep offline and also other items. I only have 2.5GB Dropbox and have Google Drive of course. My other concern is the camera. i use the camera all the time to various reasons, and I haven't seen much talk about the camera on the Nexus. I have heard from others the SG3 is a superior camera but I want a Nexus' owner's perspective

Any reason to NOT go with Nexus over the GS3??

Thank you to all who give advice.

I love my GSM Nexus and have never been happier with any other phone. However, it appears you're going to stay on Verizon, and that particular version of the Nexus isn't the best IMO. The GS3 is newer, with better specs, much better camera, bigger screen, etc. If I were you, GS3 is an easy choice, considering you can get it for $199 and it's on Verizon.

I came to an unlocked Nexus from a Galaxy S 2 on Sprint, and the camera difference is pretty substantial. The GS3 has a similar camera to the GS2 and even improves it with new features.

Get the GS3 you won't be disappointed considering the phone you're upgrading from, Verizon kinda cripples the Nexus experience IMO. I love my Nexus with Jelly Bean and am extremely satisfied, but GS3 is the way to go in YOUR situation. Just my two cents.

Ill echo the same sentiment as OMGLadyGaga. Because you're on Verizon, upgrading soon, AND have no problem with the new plans, then the GS3 is the smarter choice. It has a bigger screen, newer specs, bigger stock battery, and is only slightly more expensive then the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. On the other hand, if you were thinking about switching from Verizon, then the Google Play Nexus would be for you; considering it's a steal to have an unlocked, unadulterated Nexus for almost half the price of the SGS3 full retail.

I'll chime in too since I have both the GSM unlocked Galaxy Nexus (running on prepaid T-Mobile) and Galaxy S3 (running on Sprint).

Both phones feel comparable to me in build quality. I put TPU gel skins on my phones and wrist straps. In the year I had my Galaxy S2 I dropped it countless times and never had a scratch. Those TPU screens are like wrapping your phone in a rubber ball. Much better than my Otterboxes that broke the hard plastic with a fall.

Since you're on Verizon, I'd echo the sentiments that you go with the S3. It is the top of the line phone at the moment. Verizon also locked down the Nexus too much. I'm inclined to believe a Nexus phone is really only good if it comes straight from Google and is unlocked stock Android. Then you will get updates as they happen and no carrier will muck around with it.

I gave up my S2 to get the S3. Even a year later my S2 was chugging along as good as new. It even got an ICS upgrade this week giving it new life. I think the Galaxy line of phones holds up well to time.

ive had the pleasure of having both. I have the gsm version of each phone. The sg3 was really good except it felt like a toy from toys r us that my cousin would play with. The memory isnt really an issue. I have loads of photos and music that i store on my phone but i transfer them through dropbox so no issue there. The galaxy nexus seems like the perfect balance to me. The phone itself doesnt feel like a toy and the jellybean firmware is amazing
