NFC chip, how important is it to you?

How important is an NFC chip to you on your phone? Here in Maryland, the only places that have them available is 7-11.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd say 1. On the few machines I've seen at Jack in the Box and the gas station they have been out of order . Maybe if I lived in Tokyo or some place where tech like this is a commonplace. It's not important for me to whip out my phone Clint Eastwood style and leave in a hurry. For my personal usage it would just be a gimmick.

I would like my next phone to rock it as it is clearly the direction the industry is moving to. I want to future proof my next phone purchase as much as possible, even though I'm an early adopter and keep phones for about six months.
