I have an LG G3D850 and still have not received the update. It only lets me check once a day and gives me a message like "your phone is up to date. You can check again in ..."

Now it is giving me some crazy timer like "you can check again in 1500hours..."

Any idea how I can actually get the update?

I changed the date to March, then to May and am still getting this message and no update

That means that either your carrier hasn't released an update for that model, or that it has but your particular phone isn't on the list yet. (If they updated all the phones of just one model at once, the network would die, so they dole out the updates slowly.)

The carrier would have to improve their speed to be slow. This is the most ridiculous system I have seen. As much as I disliked apple, the updates were available to everyone! at once. You may have to wait a day or so but it was always there.
It has been 5 days since the release and I have not received the update and I have not heard an inkling from support.

I am going to seriously look at selling my android and buying another iphone

After three days I got a runaround response from LG today. Their web site specifically states that an upgrade is available for the D850, they refused to acknowledge. But their support told me the generic, power off phone thing. I must have told them this 4-5 times that I tired it. But I tried it again, and no update.

Plus to further aggravate the situation even more, they told me to call AT&T at 800-331-0500. I called them and the rep said that he can not assist me but gave me another number 800-901-9878. When I called that one I just got an automated system. When I entered my number I got "we can not locate your account, goodbye". Some customer (dis)service they have both LG and AT&T.

I also called Cricket yesterday and they were not able to offer any device support. They could only tell me to contact the manufacturer.

At this point my options look like:
1) get a new phone-other than LG
2) root and get a custom lollipop Rom

What is the most stable Root and Lollipop ROM at this point?

I would rather not root but I don't see any other options. Nobody wants to take ownership of the problem and they all pass the buck (cricket, LG, and AT&T)
