I am driving a 2017 Lincoln MKZ.

Phone is Pixel 3XL

I have successfully paired by phone with my car. I can confirm this because I have received phone calls and text messages and the car and phone communicate just fine.

This morning I tried playing my podcast, but there is no audio coming through my speakers.

My previous phone Samsung S7 Active had no issues.

What do you suggests to fix this problem?

Check your vehicle BT settings and make sure both Phone and Audio are linked.
Also, ensure the volume slider on your phone is all the way up.

Some times, the BT connection works only for phone calls and not media. Please try unpairing and pairing the phone with your car. During pairing, if there is any settings option please ensure that you have selected the media output also.

You may also want to check if your phone goes into Do Not Disturb mode when connected and Do Not Disturb is not allowing "Media".
I think Android Auto sets DnD mode when it starts.

I am not connecting to my car via USB cable. But thank you for the tip. I will check AA for that setting though for when I plug in.

I did check that my car recognizes my phone for both phone and media audio.

Oddly, this afternoon I tried again and it started to play audio, but it kept pausing all of a sudden. I had to keep hitting play, and then it was pause again randomly.

It seems this is a known bug that Google has confirmed and a fix is coming.

This is odd. I plugged my phone into my car and AA started up and works just fine. Both music and podcasts play without random stopping.

For me, I have intermittent play back when connected via bluetooth only (NOT cable) for both music (Spotify) and podcasts (poacket casts).
