No battery life for Evo Shift 4G

My cousin just bought one of these and came to me for help but I'm having a hard time figuring it out. She doesn't have a single non stock app and can't get a full day out of her phone. 4G is always off, WiFi and Bluetooth are always on. I told her to turn them off when not in use but it didn't do the trick. Her updates are up to date. Any ideas?

My battery life is noticeably worse since the 8/4/11 OTA update. It is so bad I had to go back to my 3200mah extended battery full-time (I used to use it only when I might not get to a charger in the evening). Now my phone is 50-60% by mid-day with no calls and down to 20-30% by bedtime with the extended battery. Just noting my experience...
