I've had this phone for over a week now and it seems the speakers were louder on day one. It does get louder with beats audio off. Just doesn't sound so good. So apparently beats is just an equalizer and doesn't provide any additional amplification at all? So how do I turn on this much hyped "boom sound" HTC talks about. Is there a setting change that I'm missing? Haven't noticed any difference with KitKat either.

Boom Sound is what they call the dual front facing speakers. It's not a setting or anything like that. beats Audio is all that can be turned on or off

It sounds ok in a small quiet room. Much better than my old razr but, HTC hypes it as though you can hear it in a crowded bar. No way. So how loud is it supposed to get? Any way to test it? Just hope the amp is working right and not blown.

I'm noticing now the speakers are louder with beats audio off but the opposite is true when I plug in an external stereo amp. Why?
