No Google Phone App Keypad Tone Sounds

I am running the beta Google Phone app on both my Pixel 3 XL and Essential PH-1. The app has been updated with the dark theme and works OK except neither phone's keypad produces a tone when the keys are touched. I have checked the "Sounds" settings and the keypad sounds are enabled. Anyone else? Any ideas? TIA

The purpose of a beta is for you to report problems, so report this one to Google at the Beta page.

Betas aren't a way for you to get the new version faster than others. They aren't guaranteed to work, they're almost guaranteed to have some bugs - which you're supposed to find and report. Any betas - apps, new versions of Android, everything. If you want a working app, stay with the working versions, not the betas.
