I started using the internet-based You Tube, which still gives me the full screen functionality, and I actually like how it works better. Screw the app! All this technology and nobody can get their **** together and maintain a damn on-screen button!

This is really annoying. Had the same issue. I managed to solve it temporarily by doing a factory reset (make sure everything is back up) and then restore. It worked and then I updated a few apps and things and it went again. Frustrating. Already restored a few times due to bugs so can't fave doing it again. If anyone works out how to fix be sure to post.

You did all that, just to get this YouTube crop feature back? Smh

Mine has the same issue, but it's not worth the fuss

Happened to me too. i didnt realize i couldnt crop to fit until i read these threads and tried it myself.

Had it yesterday, didn't have it today...

Yeah mine was fine yesterday even after the AT&T update and all of a sudden it's gone. I'm sure it's a big with the YouTube app and will be fixed soon.

already said, but someone mentioned on Samsung forums Google added pinch to zoom and it forced Samsung to remove the button, but unfortunately it seems that they forgot to add the zoom function.

Just watching a YouTube video and it crashed. Restarted YouTube and the Pinch to Zoom function came up.

My Note 8 won't crop to fit on YouTube

My Note 8 won't work on YouTube with the crop to fit. I factory reset it and still nothing as of yesterday. I called Samson customer service and he said that YouTube had an update. I don't think he knew what he was talking about.

the crop function is not from video, the phone automatically fit the screen cropping to match aspect ratio of the Galaxy s8/s8+/note when you hit the tap on the screen as shown in your pictures. now same problema in my S8+

Just watching a YouTube video and it crashed. Restarted YouTube and the Pinch to Zoom function came up.

Same for me. I just force closed YouTube, and when I reopened the app I was able to use pinch to zoom.

Hey Guys, I don't know how but I got the new pinch to zoom feature to work on my S8 that someone mentioned here earlier.

1. l deleted all the data from the YouTube app.
2. Opened the app started a video and turned the s8 to get it into landscape.
3. pinched several times on the video from the inside out.
4. Closed the app and closed it in the multitasking window as well
5. Opened it again and pinched again on a video in landscape. A blue notification popped up on the left and I could finally pinch the video to the full 18.5:9

Hope this helps anybody here and you get it to work on your devices

Hey guys I got the new pinch to zoom feature on my S8+. I also lost the crop to fill button due to the addition of the pinch to zoom feature. I fixed it on my phone by doing the following:

1. Install latest Youtube update (maybe try uninstall and reinstall update if you already have latest)
2. Go into settings -> apps -> youtube -> force stop
3. Open Youtube app (done)

I hope this works for you guys. It seems like I had to force stop the app for it to fully implement the latest update.

Is now pinch to zoom. The crop icon is gone, just pinch to zoom.

I'm on AT&T and just installed the October Security update. My crop to fit in YouTube is still working.

Mine was working perfectly fine before the update. It's after the update that made it not work anymore

uninstalled reinstalled cleared cache and force stopped and the pinch to zoom doesn't work and there is no crop to fit button
