No LED Notification??

Not having a notification light doesn't really bother me but it would be a nice thing to have. It's a bit frustrating not having something you're used to with another device.

My battery icon on notifications has a lightning bolt in the middle when charging.
They all do that.

Folks here are talking about an LED, typically multicolored, that glows during charging and when the battery reaches 100%

So, for example, even if you disable the always on display, you can still see the charging status at a glance.

wish they would have kept it , it's one of thing you take for granted but miss it when it's gone.

There is no notification LED, charging or otherwise. If that is a required feature the Pixel 3/3XL is not the device for you. Pixel 2s have it. We don't know about the Pixel 4s but I strongly doubt it unless Google feels it will prohibit sales. I sympathize with those that need it but there are too many other good things about this device that I would pass it up.

Agreed. After my first 10 days with my Pixel 3 XL I never noticed it didn't have a notification LED. If there had been one, I would have turned it OFF anyway. I get too many notifications for it to be useful.

Why does Google take these back steps? Everyone wants and needs it and its so much easier that tapping on just to see whats waiting for you.

It's not just Google and I would hardly call it a back step. On the 3XL, I'm certain it was a factor of moving all of the sensors to the Notch and I doubt it would make anyone happy to have a larger notch and it has the Always On Display.

Not everyone wants it or needs it, nor is it even close to a majority. With the LED you still have to open the screen to see what's there. With the AOD we can see the type of notification that's there without opening so I'm sure that it's less of a necessity for most.

Of course that doesn't mean an LED notification light doesn't add value but we can't have everything on every device.

Would of rather Google have been the size of the note 9.
With no notch and have a Led
Then Google could of also had a 4000 ah battery too.

There are lots of would haves and rather haves out there. Unfortunately they are hardware considerations and we can't change that.
