No Lg G5 email notifications

I have a gmail account that when synced shows notifications from the gmail app. Problem is I use Maildroid and I get no notifications. Tried all the settings. I also installed other email clients to eliminate a Maildroid issue. Nine of the clients produce a notification. Notifications for other apps work. Any ideas? Thanks

Make sure that the time span in which to poll the server (check for email) is set to 0 (which tells the server to send you emails as they arrive). Otherwise, if the server (or the app) is slow, the app could miss emails. (And polling eats a lot of battery unless you're receiving dozens of emails a day.)
