I was at a T-Mobile store earlier today and the guy I talked to there explained to me that whether you have to pay the $15/month fee or not depends on the data plan you have assigned to your account. The "value" plan that costs $35/month and has a 5Gb cap includes free hot spot tethering. The other plans do not and would require the extra fee if you want to use tethering.
It's still a rip off. I monitor all my data usage so I don't see why I can't use the left over data on my 2gb plan as tethering if I want to without paying a stupid fee. I also think it's a rip off that they require a $50 enterprise data plan to install and use the Good Technology app that will allow you to connect to corporate blackberry servers. What difference does it make how I use the data??? I refuse to pay for extra data that I don't use.
