No Motorola Droid 2.1 Update this week...

*This release that Moto made never said they what was said was incorrect in any manner. They never said "its not coming this week, we lied" or "what was said before was a lie/incorrect." They only took down the details of the update, and the facebook announcement of it. And what was put in its place was that they prematurely released that information. NOT prematurely releasing 2.1 to Droid owners.

*Even if they ARE NOT releasing it this week; it would be safe to assume that it was because there was an up-roar about a lack of abilities that many wanted (yes, I know not many of you cared about the 3D app tray or live wallpapers, but the other 200,000 droid owners did.) And they want to add those abilities and possibly MORE!

*So that all being said we don't KNOW a damn thing yet. So please, don't fret, we do not know what we will get or when we will or will not get it. So all I can say is keep an eye on your phone and to the sites, when these bad boys start updating, EVERYONE will know about it!

I was reading through the thread that was causing all of the confusion about the update coming this week or not and I found this:

is why I say that. 2.1 is rolling this week! What was prematurely released as seen above is the patch notes.

I agree. He said the details were released prematurely, not the infrmation about the update. With what he said, I think we will see 2.1 this week.

how many of us droid users still have a phone that still works better then most phones out there in the market

i know that getting new bells and whistles would be nice but i'd rather wait a bit to be getting the best OS update they have to offer us not one that is out of date as they release it

let's all have a little patience and know that we still have a kick ass phone

i do think that big red does have a little to do with this delay but who knows

and all these rumors don't do any of us any good till we get the product in hand
so all of us droid users have to wait and remember it's still the 1st qtr of 2010
and that's all moto said when they said 2.1 was coming out

Now, where exactly are the words "You will not get 2.1 this week" on any official motorolla or VZW site?

As stated above in my post the things he was talking about was the notes on the update. I hate to say this to an admin but... Please read what he said again and what it was referring to and which thread it is in.

It's pretty clear Moto has made a huge mess here. They keep contradicting themselves. The update in one place says this week, in another it simply says coming soon and not this week.

I'll leave this for you guys to decide on. I have my 2.1... no need for me to get involved.

Sadly sites like BGR and Engadget are rather notorious for over-speculation (and very VERY pro-apple). They take a snippet from a company and do what all media does; generalize, over-speculate, and assume.

And they have many of us fooled sadly. I used to actually be one of them, until they started stepping on their own toes.

As for me, I will believe what Moto says over what any of those sites say any day. And moto says its gonna be here, so thats what I will take from it, and NOTHING else.

I'll weigh in here... I think the official post on Facebook trumps all of the comments posted in the forums, that were taken out of context. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the update does come out this week. They have yet to correct the original, or post an updated Facebook post, so AFAIC it's still coming shortly.

WAHHHHHH !!! At least the Droid upgrade is in the near future ! There is no word of when the Moment and Hero upgrades will hit. Just "the first half of 2010". UGH !
