No notifications on the always on display screen

[AC Question]

Since the Nougat update I do not get any notifications when the always on screen display is on. I did before the update. Referring to missed call, text etc. When I choose a layout the show notifications line is grayed out. I use no lock. If I do use a lock as in pin or fingerprints etc, I will get the notifications. Any help greatly appreciated.

You should lock your screen for a whole host of reasons....
