No Oreo Update Yet - On MetroPCS

I still haven't gotten the Oreo update on my 6P and I am on MetroPCS. Is there a known reason why? Does Oreo run smooth on the 6P?

I recently got the 6p used but in great shape. I can't compare before and after Oreo as it was available the first time I turned it on.

But it runs very smooth for me. I'm hoping the original Z Play gets it soon.

I just wanna know why I haven't gotten the update yet. My phone freezes up/crashes too much. It's annoying.

If you really want the latest OS update you can manually flash it. However, if you're having problems with freezing, etc, you might want to solve that issue before introducing a new variable. I'd suggest booting into Safe mode and running that way for awhile - if your problems go away then you have one or more 3rd party applications causing your grief.

I am on T-Mobile and still have not gotten OREO OTA on my 6P. I also never received the September security update, so I am still running on the August security update. I shouldn't have to side load any update. I have never participated or signed up for any Beta program either. My feeling is if it isn't pushed to me there must be a reason for it.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

Download it and install it, if you haven't gotten the OTA by now I doubt you will ever get it. Download the image and flash it, it's a simple procedure.

But there must be some reason why it wasn't pushed? I mean you are supposed to receive updates via OTA. I know its simple, but it almost seems like I'm not supposed to have it if not sent by OTA.

Although I got Oreo with my brand new 6p I didn't get the nougat 7.1.1 update to my axon 7 mini so I finally had to manually install it. It wasn't that bad but I wondered the same thing you do. Why didn't I automatically get my nougat in my case update. I still don't know why I never got it and I've received other update to my axon since then too that were automatic so I know how you feel there.

I haven't received Oreo either and I'm on Project Fi, and I only have the August Security update :-(

You could sideload it if you wanted to.

But I'd just talk to Fi support about that.

Out of curiosity: what happens if you tap the "Check for updates" button?

Since you're on Fi you have an 'in' with Google. Contact their customer support through the Settings application and they should help you, or at least give you a satisfactory answer as to why you're not getting the latest Security Update.

I tap on the "Check for Updates" and it says my system is up to date. I'm interested what Fi has to say about the situation. I'm on T-mobile, so I would have to contact google directly for answers. But again, seems like I should not need to sideload anything. That is the entire reason for choosing to purchase a Nexus in the first place - that I would get OTA updates first and before others get new operating systems.

I don't think using a MetroPCS SIM is preventing you from getting Oreo.

Turn off your phone, take the SIM out, reboot your phone, connect to WiFi and check if the update is available to you.

Last night on the google support chat they had me reboot in safe mode and check for the update. Nothing.

Then they recommended a factory reset, which I was not about to do. They also said I can contact help via email using the feedback button, which I did and I am waiting for a reply.

It is definitely not the SIM that is preventing the update. I powered the phone down, removed the SIM and booted back up. No updates were available through WiFi. I also tried the same thing in safe mode without any success.

Any other ideas other than a factory reset?

Load the update manually. If you use the OTA build it won't wipe your data.

After downloading the update to your computer, the process takes a whopping 3 commands and 15 minutes, most of which is automated.

I've been having the same problem with service through Fi while using T-Mobile network. I downloaded an app that let me force my 6P onto the Sprint network and Oreo was available immediately plus was able to get security patches as well. Of course only works if you have Fi.

I'm on Fi. I just used Signal Spy to force to Sprint and I still can't get Oreo to download. Says my system is up to date even after a reboot. Guess I'll have to manually update.
