No OTA yet...

Will the OTA show up on an AT&T N1 that's connected via WiFi and NO SIM card installed?

My SIM is in another phone right now while I wait for a microSIM adaptor.

Thanks

You NEED the SIM to get the OTA. Some even say you need to disable Wifi, but not too sure about that.

I'm pretty sure having the SIM card in is a good idea.
I just got my FroYo update after checking in. I had tried previously, but it didn't work until just now.
It is build FRF91.

Just to say guys that i am in the uk and just received ota frf91.

Wanted to let people know thats its finally rolling out in europe

Still no FRF91 OTA for me. I think Google has shunned me out of OTA's. lol. I'd probably still be on EPE54B if I didn't do the manual install.

Sigh...

Its now almost 1PM Friday afternoon where I live (Wash D.C.) and I have yet to get the either the original FRF85B or FRF91 OTA's on T-Mobile. I've ran a checkin pretty much everyday since the original announcement but that hasn't helped. I've gone and downloaded the universal update to FRF85B just in case and if I don't get OTA by Sunday morning then I'm going to manually update. I really want to know how Google chooses who gets the OTA's first. After all, I was probably one of the first 1000 or so ppl to buy the phone.

EDIT: Got fed up and decided to do it myself. Found a link on the xda developers site for a ERE27 to FRF91 update and used that. I almost had a heart attack when the phone couldn't find the update but then I realized I didn't copy it over to the sd card correctly. The phone just finished but its a bit sluggish but I guess thats the way its supposed to be at first. I'm very disappointed that the flash player doesn't work through dolphin browser though. As of the moment it looks like it may be easier to view flash videos through skyfire because videos are taking forever to load through the browser.

Hey Ock, that link you posted isn't working for me. Could you please check it and maybe repost? Thanks. I am still sitting at 2.1 but I must say I do want Froyo badly, just doesn't seem like it's happening fast enough.

I got bored and decided to just manually apply the FRF91 update. Oh well, no OTA again for me this time. lol

Axeman, I posted the full FRF91 installer link in another thread that works from 2.1. I don't have time at this moment to go back and look cuz I'm about to head out but it's in this forum.

Just received the FRF91 update this morning. My WiFi was off before I had charged the phone while off last night. After turning on the phone it began to receive data over the AT&T 3G connection. It took a few minutes to finish downloading.

I actually did not wait for a notification to show up. I just navigated to Phone Information and clicked System Updates.

It showed the update was 44.4MB (going from the stock EPE54B version) and it began confirming the download, presenting me with options on what to do after. I chose to install, it only took about the same amount of time to install as downloading.

The new home screen is very nice with the quick bar. I only noticed one anomaly so far. I had a shortcut for Google Voice that became broken. From what I can tell Google Voice is now built in. I at first could not find it in the applications. I tried a long press on the home screen and made a shortcut. It appears to be functioning just fine though.

I can confirm the Broken Google Voice icon. Deleted it, Long pressed and found it in Applications. Added the Icon and, as you say, it seems to work just fine.

My update notification came thru after I was out of wifi range for several hours. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not. Installation was flawless. No farting around pressing volume up and down or any of that stuff.

WiFi tethering is drop dead simple.
My track ball blinked red when an email arrived in k-9.

And the OTA update came in 12 hours before my self imposed side-load deadline arrived.

On an unlocked, stock, T-mobile Nexus One, here in south FL. Got tired of waiting so I side loaded from 2.1 to 2.2 about 3 or 4 days ago. It was ridiculously simple, and I went through each of these individual updates as I didn't find a single update file for going from ERE27 to FRF91:

signed-passion-FRF50-from-ERE27.1e519a24.zip
signed-passion-FRF72-from-FRF50.bc033f9e.zip
signed-passion-FRF83-from-FRF72.684bd56a.zip
signed-passion-FRF85B-from-FRF83.f62ffd2b.zip
signed-passion-FRF91-from-FRF85B.db99fdf1.zip

Didn't notice ock's post where he linked to the ERE27 to FRF91 direct update, but luckily I randomly downloaded each of these individual update files as they were released and had them lying around on my computer. Go figure, lol

As for the updates, it was time consuming, but 100% pain free. After each update, I experienced little or no lag upon rebooting my phone. However after updating to froyo, I saw that my phone was noticeably faster, and had all those snazzy new features :)

I had maybe a few, minor apps that I had to reinstall or that stopped working (for instance Swype and 1 or 2 settings widgets) but overall I didn't have any major software issues with froyo.

If google decides to release another update to froyo, I'll probably sideload that too, it was really easy and beats waiting. I'm proficient with computers and following simple instructions but I'm totally clueless when it comes to tweaking or hacking. So if anyone has any questions or needs those individual update files, feel free to PM me, it was easy, and you shouldn't be scared to side load
