No push notifications on Google App

I don't use this feature so I have limited knowledge about it. I Googled your question and found this reply, which you've already done the first step but check the others and see my comments at the bottom.

If Google News isn't sending notifications, first check your notification settings within the app itself. You can adjust the notification frequency and choose specific types of alerts you want to receive. Also, ensure your phone's notification settings are enabled for Google News. If those don't work, try updating the app and your browser if you use the web version.
Detailed Steps to Troubleshoot:

  1. Check Google News app settings:
    • Open the Google News app and go to your profile picture (top right).
    • Tap "News settings" and then "Alerts".
    • Verify that "Get notifications" is turned on.
    • Adjust the "Number of notifications" (Low, Medium, High).
    • Review individual notification types (e.g., daily briefing, specific topics) and enable/disable as desired.
  2. Check phone notification settings:
    • On your Android device, go to "Settings".
    • Tap "Apps & notifications" and then "Notifications".
    • Find Google News in the list of apps and make sure its notifications are enabled.
    • Check for "Do Not Disturb" or "Focus mode" settings, as these might be blocking notifications.
  3. Update Google News app and browser:
    • Go to the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) to check for updates.
    • If you use Google News through a web browser, update your browser to the latest version.
  4. Check internet connection:
    • Ensure you have a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular).
  5. Restart your device:
    • A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
  6. Check Google Alert settings (if applicable):
    • If you are using Google Alerts, ensure your email settings are correctly configured.
    • Check your email inbox and spam folder for alerts.
    • Add googlealerts-noreply@google.com to your contacts to ensure alerts don't go to spam.
  7. Report the issue to Google:
    • If you've tried all the above steps and are still not receiving notifications, consider reporting the issue to Google through the app.

To go much farther we'll need to know what device you have and if you've gotten any updates recently?

If you've had a major update, like to One UI 7, or a new OS version, it could be a bug. You might try clearing the partition cache for the device. Some devices like the Pixel, I've heard they've blocked access to the Bootloader where these actions are accessed. Without knowing which device you have I cannot offer specific directions but for most devices it's powering the device down and then rebooting while holding the up volume button and power button until the splash screen appears and releasing the power button but continuing to hold the volume button until fully booted. For some devices you need to plug the phone into a laptop or PC via USB while performing the steps mentioned.

Let us know what you find.
