No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6 for me

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

I've seen these external battery packs for iphones. They are even more absurd and in the end you don't have a credit-card thin device as shown but a weird contraption.
Like I said, it's small, not much larger than the original battery. AND I've only used it a FEW times.

If you don't want the damn phone, start looking elsewhere.

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

So now you have to carry 2 devices with you everywhere. Or keep it in the car (facing either extreme heat or cold, neither one is good for Li-Ion chemistry)
An extended internal battery just makes so much more sense.

Its pretty simple ....these oem are not going to put a 10000ma battery in these phones until battery tech is much better ...most people just charge the phone when needed instead of carrying around a brick that's 15 cm thick ....they will continue to make them for the masses of which you are not

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

I will be skipping the 6 and holding out for the Datum9000, because clearly he knows how to build the perfect phone.

yeah, I was just thinking, a 10k MA battery would be very thick, isn't that worse than carrying 2 devices? I would rather the nexus at its current thickness, and only uses an external battery on those rare occasion that the battery is running out than always carrying a super thick phone.

don't you mean datum10000? 9000 wouldn't be enough, it probably only have a screen time of 23 hours instead of 24.

all joking aside, I think battery issue will always be the bottleneck with current battery technology, there is no perfect until we can improve the battery technology. then again, I'm sure we'll complain about something else later. first world problem.

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

"Google said"? Not a credible source, of course the manufacturer will vastly inflate the numbers to help the sales numbers. Only the naïve believe these claims.

I have a LG Optimus G Pro which is HD, vastly fewer pixels than the Nexus 6 and it did not last one full day with its stock 3140 mAh cell.

Not when you browse a lot with the brightness set to 80%. And I am not even getting into high drain apps like youtube or maps or whatnot. GPS really drained it pretty quickly.

Plus, batteries deteriorate in capacity as they age, keep that in mind.

I ended up carrying spare stock batteries with me and eventually upgraded to a zerolemon 9300 mAh cell to get about 1.5 days of runtime. More pixels in a 2560x1440 configuration will generate a higher drain, this is obvious as day now. There is just no way this phone will run as long as a similar HD device with a lower pixel number. No matter how you tweak the kernel.

So we have a credit-card thin device and 6 hours of runtime. Great. The manufacturers build this stuff correctly assessing that the average consumer that drives this stupidity has the intelligence of a doorknob.

Sounds like you should probably get a laptop or maybe a 200,000 ft extension cord. The sad factor is most people keep phones for 2 years now if your battery is draining that much within the first year Google will give you another Phone. You have posted the same info in other threads and even started one. 10,000 mAh will not be in a phone for a very very long time so posting over and over again will not help it.

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

Screen time vs total time? What good is the phone sitting in a drawer idling, if the screen time is only 4-6 hours? It's an irrelevant number. 6 hours is just absurd.

Are you freaking serious? Do you actually take your phone off charge and use it without stopping all day, every day? Of course idle time is important.

Screen time... What do you consider good screen time? Most people would love 6-7 hours of screen time and you say it's a joke?

You can't be serious man. What you want is never going to happen and you're completely unrealistic. If a 10,000mah battery is what you need just move on and go away because there isn't a phone on the market that has that stock and you obviously can't use after market here.

Nexus 4. No removable battery. Nexus 5. No removable battery. Nexus 6. No removable battery.

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

Go buy the note 4 for 800 and a 2500000ma zero lemon battery pack
Here is a pic of it ...ridiculous

I can't recall a smart phone that I've ever owned that could go 6 - 7 hours of total screen time without a top charge here and there.... With my Nexus 5... 3 - 4 hours of "Screen" time is AMAZING.... 2 - 3 is more realistic.... So much so I have two chargers at home (Kitchen and bedroom), one on my desk at work to set on when not using and another in the car.....

I always make sure to try and plug it up about 2 hours before leaving work for the day.. I always throw it on a wireless charging mat at home when I am in the shower, cooking or doing something that doesn't require me to have my phone on me... if I know I am going to be in the car for more than 30 minutes I plug it up so when I get to my destination I am at or near 100%.....

if the Nexus 6 can go 5 - 6 hours of actual SCREEN ON TIME that would be amazing.....

I was averaging over 6 hours screen time on the Note 4 with the same resolution screen and same battery size as the Nexus 6 so it could happen. Thanks for posting this as well because you just show how off the plantation the OP is.

These smartphone MFG's KNOW that battery life is the biggest weakness of a smart phone.... Android 5.0 is suppose to really address this and with each new Snapdragon processor they get a little faster and little better battery life... I see these people with the Morphie packs on their iPhones and I bought one for my GS3 but the added bulk defeats the purpose.. and to add that bulk to a device like a Note 4, Nexus 6 or iPhone 6+ is just insane...

I've just learned to adjust..... Specially since now batteries don't need to be fully drained before charging for fear of losing a lot of battery life... I just try and make sure my device gets a top charge any time I am not using it... Exactly why I love Qi wireless charging... that's my primary charging option outside my car... Just set it down and top it off here and there.... I bet I set my phone down and pick it up off the wireless charger 20 times a day.... If I know I am going out tonight I make sure "Hey we are meeting up at 8:30?" Okay make sure the phone is on the charger by 7:00 at the latest so I can get a good hour of boost before I leave for the night.....

Forward thinking.... LOL!!!!

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

There was already a discussion just like this. And get an external portable battery if it's that big of a deal.

This. Honestly, I only used my Powerock 6000mAh 2-3 times, twice was when we went NYC for the weekend.

These flagships all have amazing battery life so I don't think it's a deal breaker.

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

Companies are focusing too much on making them thinner too is the problem.

I guess if they can't give us bigger battery I want them to focus on getting them charged quicker.

Yeah, great point, he is carrying 2 devices with him. Pretty much the same as keeping a bunch of spare batteries plus a charger with you at all times.
What a stupid thread.

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

A removable battery is certainly a plus but not a deal-killer if I can't get one. It's not a big deal to carry a battery pack and cable on days when I anticipate heavy use away from charging opportunities. The thing that annoys me is that a $650 phone will have a $30 battery built in so it's difficult to replace. Note: Difficult but do-able -- check iFixit.com for their instructions for taking apart most common smartphones.

On having a huge (and heavy... I might add) 10,000 mAh battery attached to a phone makes no sense to me. I don't want to have to wield a brick every day just so, on the odd day when I need that much capacity, I can have it handy. I'd rather bring along the external pack on those days and have a more manageable device.

Re: No removeable battery is a deal-breaker for Nexus 6

No removable battery is a deal breaker, no SD card is a deal breaker. It is the same thing every year people saying its a deal breaker yet more and more devices go without both of those and sell well. Why not wait and see how it actually performs before saying "battery isn't large enough.

I said this same thing in the beginning of the thread. but somehow, carrying around 5 extra batteries is better than getting a 10000-14000 mAh external battery pack.
