No results when using searchbox

Today when I tried searching using the Google search box, no results were shown. Screen remained blank...only thing on screen was list on bottom...web, video, images, on tablet, etc. Restarted several times, checked to see if any updates were needed...nothing. Other Internet functions operate as usual - only when using the searchbox...very wierd.

After further checking, this is what's happening...as I'm typing something in the search box, items are appearing that reflect matching items that are located ON the tablet. Once I finish the search entry and hit the magnifying glass, the screen goes blank. All that shows are the choices on the bottom...web, images, maps, more, etc. I haven't changed any settings that would cause this so I'm confused. Tried the Samsung support page but got nowhere...any ideas?

When all else fails...factory reset. Hated to do it but that did the trick.

It often does. In fact I do it after firmware updates just to be on the safe side.
