Why isn't there a scheduled event yet with Google to announce this phone?

I'm thinking the rumors of October 14th announcement aren't going to pan out. Its is the 8th now and have not seen any formal invitations for an event.

What is everybody's thinking on no event scheduled yet?

I think that it has been speculated that the 14th is a finalization, not an announcement. That theory has the actual announcement at the end of October. Not aware of any events then either though.

My anxiety is bugging me. So i looked in to last years event for the nexus 4. It looks like the invatations went out about oct 17th, for the event on the 29th. So looking at atleast a 12 notice in advanced.

Looks like the 21st would be the earliest date now.

WOW, it says that benchmarks of Google Nexus 5 were leaked a few years back and they showed that the performance of Nexus 5 is better than iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4.
Very interesting that it has been in development for that long.

LOL yep. All this point, "we" are about 85% sure of the exact hardware specs. It will be a beast, no doubt. I'm more interested in hearing about KitKat at this point.

Ya really the only things we can almost say for 100% certain is the phone will come with 4.4 and have an S800

Could it be announced at the android BBQ this weekend?

Would they combine something like that together?

Is the Big Android BBQ a Google event? :)

There absolutely will be an event, and there will be invites, so there will be advance notice.
I'm guessing they are trying to strategize the timing to maximize the impact on the new iPad announcement.
4.4 on a new Nexus 10 should kick the **** of a new iPad, so likely after the Apple event if they think that will happen, a day or two before if they don't.

You heard it here first.

A new Nexus 10 won't be significant (to general consumers) as a new iPad. :)

You are partially correct however it is still an impact, and they will be looking to trump what the new ipad potentially is.

It's gonna be more of an Android vs. iOS thing.
Yeah, there will be a Nexus 10 announcement in there, but 4.4 is the real star of the show. 4.4 is what will be blowing the doors off all of the features of the new iPad, not any one particular piece of hardware.

Only way the Nexus 10 makes a significant impact on the general consumer market is if it's sub $300 IMO.

IMO only way it makes a difference is if people know it exists. The Nexus line has begun advertising, but most of the people I interact with, when shopping for tablets, had no idea there WAS a nexus 10, let alone that it was possibly the best tablet on the market last winter. The price for it is great considering what it was, but if no one knows about it they'll continue to think Kindle and iPad, and to an extent, Nexus 7.

No, he is more than partially correct.

True and they need a marketing campaign to turn the device into house whole name.

RY and Nothingtrue pretty much somed up this topic of nexus 10 vs iPad so I will just add my two cents. Google does not care any more about the IPad(or the IPhone) then any other competitor. (Which they care very little). Andy Rubin, Eric Schmidt and Hugo Barra have all express there goal with Nexus is not a iPad and or IPhone killer. That perception of Nexus is spiraled by minds of fanboys and fangirls. Google uses Nexus line to improve the android community. Barra has been ask point blank about what's point of Nexus devices in terms of sales. Hugu Barra went record saying they want to make devices are developers can improve android so Google figure why make few more to sale. Simply they sell Nexus not out necessity but just out fun to the consumers. (Google is not into making the Nexus for profit or to be the answer to apple) Okay I gave more than my two cents.
