no sim card and functionality?

I have an Android 3G (4.2 I think) motorola, and is Verizon. When I got it, it didn't have a sim card in it. Verizon insists that I only need the sim card if I'm traveling globally. I have had problems connecting with bluetooth, and if I try to Update or downloada anything, the phone acts like it's doing something, blue bar), but will sit forever. Would not having a sim card affect that? Or functionality?

Also, have not been able to find contact information for Motorola. Just hoping someone here might know.

Not having a SIM card in a CDMA phone will not have any effect on the functionality here in the US. Suggest you bring your phone into a store.
