After transferring the video clips I took on the EVO to my Windows device, the file does not play the audio portion of the video.

I transferred the file by directly connecting the phone to my Windows 7 system using a USB cable and mounting the SD on EVO.

Is there a way to transfer the file without losing sound?

The video file produced by EVO has a 3gpp extension to it. Windows seems to play it in the native Windows player, but there's no sound.

Any idea on why and what's the best way to transfer the file so that the audio portion is not lost.

I had the same problem and unfortunately have not gotten an answer on how to correct it in Windows 7 Media player. But, I have been using that DoubleTwist program for my media files simply because it seems a bit less complicated and my video played fine there.

You have to convert your movies to mp4 before moving them to the SD card. There are free conversion programs out there.

Moving them TO the SD card or moving them FROM the SD card? I"m hav ing the same problem and it's annoying

Google k-lite codec pack. This will give you practically all the a/v codecs you need. The videos play flawlessly on my PC.
