No sound notification for messages

On my S9+, I use Samsung messenger and Signal.
Notification settings are on for both, but I don't get any audible notification.
The led will acknowledge the new messages.
Any suggestions?

Do you have any Bluetooth wearables connected that might be offloading those notifications? Some wearables give you the option to mute the phone's notification in favor of the one on the wearable.

Hey, no, no Bluetooth devices and BT is confirmed off. I've toggled notification settings off and on, changed notifications sounds, etc.

Do either of those apps have a corresponding web client or app on a computer that's intercepting the initial notification?

Solved. I apparently missed a submenu, where the notification volume was muted. Thanks for your help.
