No Sprint/T-Mobile Preorder

So are you telling me what i see on the website and what the sprint rep told me is a lie? Ok.

That is correct. I am on sprint. At first I tried on the website and it said contact a representative with a number. I called in and the first rep said I had to speak with a manager to upgrade because of the account set up. I hung up and called back. This person contacted me to a different person in telesales. The gentleman said he was checking on pre-orders. Then he put the information through. No down payment. I have to send my note 10 plus back or be charged 549. Then he said I had to pay taxes in order to make my payments even 54.17 or something like that. I have done this before with sprint. So I paid 105 and change today.

Different accounts have different down payments an ultra well qualified account on T-Mobile/Sprint only has to pay the taxes provided the account has the available credit.

He must have magic because there are only 3 options on the website whether you add a line, add a brand new device, or upgrade and every single option has the down payment. Even the sprint rep told me that the Note 20 has a down payment requirement just for that phone.View attachment 323378
Well looking at that picture it says the down payment is determined by your credit score. That will make down payments different for everyone. Just a idea

That might make sense if they actually got my info and ran one. I've been with sprint since 1999, and I've never paid a down payment on a single phone or upgrade. And if you have been reading this thread im not the only person who this has happened to and the amounts are exactly the same.

It gets me when people say they've never. Sprint hasn't always done installments or leases only with-in the last few years. While Sprint hasn't required anything down you are now subject to T-mobile's wsy of doing this as Sprint is no longer running the show. You might do better with doing a trade-in with Samsung and using there financing as you would also get the phone for less overall.

I have been reading the thread. You ever think that they require a certain amount of down payment for certain credit scores. They could just say at certain credit score requires this amount of down payment, so the down payment could be the same. Maybe since Tmobile is involved the credit was ran again, I don't know. I just threw that out there as a possibility if what's going on.

Noone can run your credit without your info. Thats just not possible.

You already gave it when you signed up for service. And yes, they can do a soft check without you knowing if you didn't lock your credit. You ever get those pre-approved loan offers in the mail, they ran a soft check on you for a general score, it's not detailed.

While going through this thread, I was thinking that. This person has been with them for years. Sprint was softly pulling that credit any time they felt like it.

A creditor has the right to reevaluate your financial standing with them. Often not by simply running credit, but by payment history.
Most the time if you have a good payment history with your carrier they aren't going to check it again after signing up. I'm going to guess that with the merger, TMobile might have ran credit checks. Like I said, that's a possibility, not saying that is what is happening.

I could have ordered a note 20 ultra today from Sprint but passed on it. They are taking them pre-orders today. But in an unusual move yesterday, they offered it to me as well, almost begging me to stay on the line. I'll keep my note 10 plus and s20 ultra and use the s20 ultra to upgrade to a Fold 2 The next phone I get will be unlocked. These ads are starting to get ridiculous.

#1. Noone can run your credit without your permission period, that is against the law.

#2, If the down-payment was based on payment history then i would never have one I've been on time since 1999.

I've gone back to all the articles posted release day and the pricing says for the ultra sprint flex customers/jump have to pay $549 and $249 for the note 20.

So somehow a loophole was found or something but regardless i documented what i was told and what i experienced.

They can't run a full credit on you without permission. Anyway, hope you figure it out, but a carrier can ask for whatever down payment they want to.

maybe you need to call a representative on the phone and ask what your options are. Ask why you are paying a down payment. Again not everyone has paid a down-payment. Again it is tmobile now and rules are different

Exactly... I think you also give the carrier permission to pull your credit when they want to, but not sure on that one. Nobody reads the TOS agreement
