No Viber notifications

I'm using Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, Android version 5.0.1.

I've never received Viber notifications since I updated to this version, unless the app is opened.

I searched how to fix but:

- Edit 'Protected apps' setting: can not find this on my phone
- Install 'Push Notifications Fixer' app: it doesn't work

Can anyone who knows how to fix this please let me know?

Hi,
I've recently purchased a Huawei P10 lite and noticed the same issue. After some tinkering I found the following solution:

• Go to Settings -> Apps -> Viber -> Notifications
• Turn on Priority display and Banners options. It is possible that only one of these is necessary, but I don't feel like experimenting All other options in this menu have previously already been turned on.

EDIT: After some additional tinkering, I found that the battery management is very likely another thing linked with notifications and app background activity in general. Try this:

• Go to Settings -> Battery
• Go to Close apps on screen lock. On this screen disable all apps you would like to work in the background. This will obviously include all messaging apps, but may also include some other apps that do data synching in the background.
