I finally figured out why I keep missing texts. If I am listening to Google music or anything else and receive a phone call my notification sound and vibrate stops working until I reboot. I can still listen to music or any others sounds but notifications sounds/vibration completely stop. I did factory reset twice already and it keeps screwing up.

I've been using Google Music for a week now and I have not noticed this yet. You've done enough reboots and factory resets to prove its an issue though. I'm going to have to keep a closer eye on this but so far all my sound issues stem from TextPlus which I want be using much longer.

Well I narrowed it down some. It will quit playing notification tones/vibrate after some phone calls while using Bluetooth headset. It does this on both my plantronics legend and jawbone but if I call someone back then I can get notification tones/vibration again.

I was on with Verizon's level two tech support and she concluded that it was software. I said that I figured that out, I need to know how to rectify it. After 30 mins she connected me with Motorola techs. Another 20 mins and they want me to use my Motorola roadster with it so they can try and figure out why this is happening. If there is anyone who uses BT all the time and has this issue, please let me know. I really don't want to spend a lot of more time with this. I would like for them to send me out another phone because it seems that I'm about the only one with this issue.

I use a Jabra in my ear, a Pioneer bluetooth system in my Hummer and Onstar bluetooth in my Silverado and I have only re-booted the Maxx once in the two weeks I have had it. And it vibrates and makes s little weird noise when I get a text or an email.

Well as it turned out, it doesn't matter whether or not I had Bluetooth on. I did two more factory resets and it was working OK after until I received a phone call. After the call my tones/vibrate would stop working again until I either rebooted or placed an outgoing phone call. I had no 3rd party apps installed when this happened again. Verizon is sending me out a phone today and hopefully I had the only one with this issue. I'm not crazy about a refurb but if it works?

You're not the only one. I have this same issue. I have only had it happen after listening to music or making calls on my LG tone headset. It doesn't happen every time though.

Let us know if the new phone solves the problem..

Mine phone does the same thing quits my notifications on txt and facebook msg. It's starting to get annoying.

I just received the replacement phone today. I will let you know if I run into any issues.

Its still doing it. I was playing candy crush and when I finished I noticed that I missed a text again. I sent my self a few more text and there was no sound/vibrate. I called voicemail and was able to get everything working again (I can call out to any number and let it ring once to get the notifications working properly again). This stinks. I really like this phone but this stinks.

I don't know. I wish I knew so I could quit it. I have almost no apps downloaded. I've had a bunch of android phones and this is the first time I've ever had this issue. I have only sent in one of my phones before and that was because the screen had a bunch of stuck pixels.

Update: I did another factory reset on my maxx again today and did not put any apps on the phone. Not only does it randomly quit playing notifications but this new (refurbished) phone quits playing all sound. I tried setting an alarm and all it did was vibrate. I put the phone back in my pocket for about ten minutes and when I pulled it out everything was working with the exception of my notification sounds.

I now have to call Verizon support again and they are going to think that I am messing something up. I have been using/rooting these phones since the original droid. I know how to make sure all the sounds are turned on. P.S. I have not rooted the Maxx yet and I'm really glad that I didn't.

I had the same issue of not getting any notifications after ending calls through my car's bluetooth system...contacted Motorola and got this response below. I cleared the partition following the instructions and it has been working fine ever since. Luckily I didnt have to restore factory settings...I would have been more willing to restart the phone after each call rather than set up all the apps and settings all over again. Hope this helps.

Thanks for reaching out to Motorola. I’ve reviewed your e-mail and I’m ready to help.

We do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. We recommend that you do some troubleshooting:

1. Power the phone off and back on. Unpair the bluetooth device from your phone.
2. Please do the clear partition process. Clearing the partition will remove any temporary files that may be causing the problem, but will not delete your files or settings. Please follow this link for steps:

Clear Cache Partition
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/95478

3. If you get the same result, perform a factory data reset. We use Reset as troubleshooting for major phone issues.

Factory Data Reset is a tool used to remove everything that was imported, added or installed on the device. Keep in mind, when using this feature everything is deleted.

To reset your device:

1. Touch

2. Touch Settings

3. Touch Backup & reset

4. Touch Factory Data Reset

5. Touch Reset Phone

Before resetting the phone, please be informed of the following.

- Reset will require a minimum battery level of 20%. If you're unable to perform a reset, I recommend to charge the phone for 20-30 minutes and try reset again.
- Ensure any personal data is backed up.

Thanks Danny. Yeah I tried clearing my cache on my first phone before trying the multiple resets. It didn't work. I've reset my phone via the recovery menu and through settings menu. My brother has one of these phones and he hasn't had any sound issues.

Verizon is sending me out another phone. I almost wish I kept my first phone because I only lost sound for the notifications. I'm loosing all sounds with the replacement.

Mine does the same thing as well its a software flaw... By any chance do you have moto assist enabled I found this to be my culprit.

I did on my first phone but not on this replacement. This replacement is really bad. It freezes among other oddities. I should have kept my first phone.

That is tough man, I vowed not to warranty this through Verizon I'll go straight through moto if I have a concern

I thought about that but I didn't figure they would take/have the time to even find the issue. Sometimes I could only get it to act up once an hour. The refurb phone I received takes two seconds to see that there is an issue.

Received my second refurb and I'm happy to say that it makes all of the appropriate sounds one day in.

Mine just started this today. I called my home phone, let it ring once, and presto!, all "fixed". :/ Verizon CS "has no reported issues" similar to this. I've also noted that my volume on music (pandora) only works correctly if I have the phone off of vibration first.....the ringer volume must be turned up first. Verizon CS is baffled by this as well.

My second replacement is also doing it every once in a while but I'm trying not to let my ocd get the better of me. I don't want another replacement like the first one they sent. I'm forcing myself not to send myself a self text every few hours. ;)
