Nokia 9 mic bug

I got my Nokia 9 activated today. So far I like it but on the few calls I've made the handset mic seems to cut out. I can hear the other caller but they can't hear me, it seems to randomly cut in and out. If anyone else experiences this please post up.

Thanks.

Wow. Hope they get that resolved quickly. And please post some pictures!

Not good news. I hope it's an isolated problem or that it's fixed promptly. Sadly, reviewers barely touch on call quality anymore. It's important to me because I still use the phone as a phone heavily. I guess I'll find out Wednesday when I receive mine.

I noticed several complaints for other Nokia Android phones online, some seem to indicate issues with Google assistant or language blocking. I disabled both, it seems better though I still don't have many minutes on it. I also did the latest Android pie upgrade. I'm probably jinxing myself with this post.... Lol

I never use Google assistant anyway so that wouldn't bother me.

Been using my Nokia 9 since midday Wed and have had no issues from folks I've spoken to. This included someone on the opposite coast in the US.

That gives me hope that it's an isolated issue.

I have to say I'm surprised that both you guys haven't made any mention of the FIVE CAMERAS on this thing, and what they can do. Please do tell us what they can do, and by all means feel very free indeed to post a large number of photos.

just curious, how is the fingerprint scanner working? I'm reading horror stories. :/

It is really bad. I ended up turning it off. I made the decision today to sell mine. It's already on its way to the new owner. I'm not in the position to have to modify every picture in Lightroom, which I don't know how to use yet, and my Pixel just takes photos that are so much better without having to retouch. I was prepared to keep it as long as low light was close and I could capture my fast kids without blur, but it failed those tests for me. I might look at it again down the line once there is some maturity on the software.

That's the main focus of the phone yet hardly anyone's talking about it or have posted any pictures. Just gotta be patient I guess.

After booting to safe mode, I found the fingerprint reader became very stable and repeatable. I removed several apps that had been installed as part of the restore process but that I no longer used. One of those removed was configured to use the reader for logging in. I now have a much more successful experience with the fingerprint scanner. I had worked with Nokia support on this.

With a little luck I should be able to post some pics by Thursday night. My phone is supposed to be delivered Wednesday. I wish B&H wouldn't use FedEx. It arrived in the sort facility Sunday but they will not deliver it until Wednesday. In my experience with UPS, they would deliver it sooner if it was at their local sort facility.

Yeah UPS is quicker in some occasions. Well I look forward to seeing something. Anything.lol

The fingerprint reader is fair at best. It does work, though I have activated the face unlock feature and it works so good that having a fair finger print reader hardly bothers me at all. A little bit of moisture or even a slightly greasy finger will cause troubles.

As far as pictures, I find it kind of funny because when uploading to this site it really limits file size and resolution. I've been super busy with work and kids so I haven't had time to experiment. Here's a picture of my awesome daughter to hold you over. Taken with the 9 btw. Flesh tones look a little off to me, though we are from the mid west and pretty pasty at this time of year.... lol

And to add some more of my opinions/feedback so far on this phone. The mic bug has not reared its ugly head since I originally posted this. The speed of the device seems completely acceptable to me, especially for a 600 US dollar device. I'm upgrading from an ancient Moto G4 plus so just about anything will feel fast to me to be honest. I got pissed after Nokia was basically killed by Microsoft, my last good camera phone was a Lumia 1020, after Nokia was killed I bought anything cheap, hence the G4. I've owned an N8, and a N79 in the passed as well. So I have some history with decent camera phones.

The wireless charging works awesome. I have a wireless charger/holder in my car. I can stream Pandora and have Waze open and the phone still charges relatively fast.

The pictures look nice so far, but as I said I haven't had much time to play. This picture is cool because it really captures the realistic look of the fibers on the blanket. Kind of corny I guess, but I think it's cool. I'm not sure how it competes with the Pixel, but I find it better than my wife's Galaxy 9 so far. I really miss having a Xenon flash, they should have included one. Just having an LED is not sufficient.

Battery life seems great. I only charge in my car for my 30 minute drive to and from work, and by the end of the night I have 60% left. Call quality seems really good now that the mic works properly. I did have a problem with AT&T killing my voicemail when I got a new nano sim for this phone. They tried to scan in my IMEI number for this phone and it came up as not possible to have a voicemail on this type of phone. After 3 calls with AT&T finally that is fixed.....

Yeah the white balance science may be off just a little. Otherwise a nice picture. Face unlock seems to be the way to go for everyone with this device so far.
