I have two older smart phones that I would like to activate on Sprint without the data being activated. A Treo 800w and a BB Tour 9630, both will be used for phone calls and texting. Will Sprint allow me to do this?

The Treo 800w will be able to be activated without data no problem. Any rep (instore or customer care) should be able to do this for you. The BB on the other hand will give you a little more grief, It's possible to get that phone activated voice only some older SOC codes but very few reps (instore or cust care) will understand how to do it.

I don't know if that is possible or not, when I started service with Sprint, I was told that all "smartphones" needed a data plan...but it wouldn't hurt to go to a Sprint Store, and see if it could be done...

Windows phones (though I doubt windows7 will once we get one) can activate without data. The BB Tour on the other hand is a device that was released when some of the Point Of Sale computer systems got upgraded, and floats in a gray area of being able to run with/without data. Some reps know how to do it, some don't. As I said originally though in order to do it, some older SOC codes are needed but very few reps (instore or cust care) will understand how to do it.
