Nook color not sending in tereo to the headphones

I just bought this yesterday (1.1.0) and put a couple albums on as a test. They are in mp3, which the manual says it reads. They play fine except when I plug in the headphones I'm not getting stereo output from the nook, only mono.

These same files work fine from my 8GB mp3 player and I've tried two sets of headphones with the same result. The headphones work fine elsewhere, too.

Did this ever happen to anyone else? Advice?

I remember reading one of the main differences between the nookcolor and archos 7" tablet is that the nookcolor does NOT have stereo, the archos did!

so that may be your problem ;-)

the screen on the nook is much superior tho!!

might try Pandora. and according to Engadget it does have stereo

The nook definitely plays in stereo through headphones, just make sure they are pushed all the way in. I only say that because the port seems like it is too shallow, I thought I was going to break something when I pushed the headset in farther.

^^^^this right here. the nook does play in stereo, but i've noticed a few times that i need to seat the headphones more securely even though they look like they are pushed all the way in. sometimes theres like that last little half millimeter and suddenly it works.

interesting... so all those reviews about the nookcolor not having stereo were bogus! I got the Archos, sold it on ebay and went with the nook because the screen is so much nicer, and fun to do all this rooting stuff w/besides!

I've found I need to take the headset out and re-seat them also. The left sometimes sounds flat. I'm really hoping that this isn't abhint at further hardware problems.
