Having used the Nook software on my Droid, and loving it, I went to take a look at the Nook Color and found its software lacking in some regards. For example, I like the "page turning" look on my Droid, something that's lacking on the Nook Color; the pages on the Nook Color just kinda slam over. Not a deal-breaker, but something.

So if I root a Nook Color, can I install the Market Nook app that has the animations? Or would that be a problem? Would I lose some of the functionality that's in the app that comes on the Nook Color?

Maybe I should read up more about rooting it first.

If you do a nookie froyo root then yes you can... You can download it with full root but the app wont open... I think its redundancy thing because on full root it already has all the nook color apps on it still. Just do it, root away. If you dont like it you can always go back to full stock. I love this thing! The thing I love the most is I can make it look like a full tab and still have everything the nook came with working!

If you keep the LCD density as is, you'll still have full access to nook software on rooted stock ROM. If you raise the density much above 200 or so (so that items on the screen are bigger) some of their software will get cut off. There's no need to raise the density, you'll just be working with the teeny-weeny icons and text (depends on your preference, I like it much bigger, others like it small).

The stock nook color software won't work on nookie froyo, but the nook app in the market will.

I use an LCD density change software, so that way I can change it, then when I reboot it's back to normal.. no perm change..
