Normal for battery to drop 10% overnight

I fully charged my battery on my S2, unplugged it, and then slept for 8 hours. Battery dropped down to 90%. I looked at what was eating up my battery. The first two were Android system and Android operating system (can't remember the order).

Is this drop normal for standyby?

I guess it is a little over 1% per hour.

That sounds good actually. Unless you're in airplane mode you still have radios on and they draw power, plus any app that may need to run in the background.

From At&T and phonescoop, the S2 is supposed to have about 384-400 hours max standby. If I drop 10% every 8 hours, wouldn't that be 80 hours standby?

Maybe that's assuming all radios turned off with no apps running in the background

I'd be thrilled if I only lost 10% in 8 hours. I can pretty much guarantee that my phone would be dead in the morning if I didn't charge it or turn it off overnight....unless it was at 50% battery or so.

Of course, this wasn't an issue before the "update".

If you're running 2.3.6 with WiFi turns ON, then it is normal. Look at the other thread "Battery drain with new update." It talks about the new release 2.3.6 causing a lot battery problem than 2.3.4 and most likely by the WiFi. I right now have my WiFi turns OFF until I actually use it.

HTH.

I believe that it's the way standby time is measured.
It all depends what it's running. If you are in airplane mode with no apps running you may see a drop of only a few %

I didn't do the update so I have 2.3.4.
I do kill the apps running in background but I always have wifi on.

Maybe tonight I will turn wifi off and test it out.

Have you watched any power saving vids on You tube? Have GPS turned off and not running background animations? Rip Joe Pa :(

10% in 8 hours, is not bad, Here is a screenshot of mine, in 11hrs only 7%

WiFi on all the time, also 3 emails acounts in push config.

I think a drop of 10% in 8 hours would be nice. I have been watching my galaxy for the past 3 hours. I have only gotten 1 email and it is sitting at 69% - so that is 31% in 3 hours. I know I can reduce some of that if I use Juice Defender but I noticed I don't get my emails at the time I should. From all the different forums a lot of people are not happy with their battery life but my work purchased this one for me so I am pretty much stuck with it. I own an iPhone 4s and the battery during the same about of time has only dropped 7% - sitting at 93% right now. I have even used it more this morning.

Any ideas will be helpful.

10% in 8 hours is slightly high, but not too bad. If you're not on wifi and you're in a weak-signal area, that may be fine.

In moderate signal, or on wifi with a firmware that doesn't have the severe bugs UCKK6 has, you should see well below 1%/hour.

If in airplane mode - you should only lose a few percent per day.

1%-2% an hour is about the normal.. Even with a custom ROM/kernel that is still about the normal....
