Not cheap on contract uk

The deals on the OnePlus 6 in the UK on contract are horrendous. I can get much better deals on an s9. Fair enough buying outright are a good deal but. Partnering with O2 in UK is a bad move in my opinion. Thoughts?
 
Contracts suck and O2 also kinda suck lol.

20 quid a month for 4 GB of data is a bit rough, but it's about what I'd expect from them.
 
It's getting harder each year to find value in contracts. I only see One Plus making sense financially buying outright
 
The O2 prices are beyond ridiculous but I'm not surprised. If I do upgrade from my Oneplus 3, I will just stick with my EE sim only and buy outright.
 
Save up and buy one outright then upgrade each year with a new one whilst the resale value is still good.

My contract is only £15 a month for 30gb data with unlimited texts and calls with 3.
 
Does wifi calling work either direct from O2 or sim free with EE for example?
