My first (and current) HTC phone is the EVO 4G LTE on Sprint, and I just love the build quality. It appears the HTC One has similar (or even better) build quality, however, I don't have a compelling reason to trade in my EVO LTE for the One. If I personally felt the HTC One was substantially better, I would pay the buyout fee on my contract and upgrade 1 year early. However, if my 2 yr contract was up, I would be tempted to get the HTC One just to have the latest hardware and another good HTC phone!

So someone is hard to please....

You have no idea if Apple will bring wireless charging or not. And honestly, who cares? Do you use it on your DNA? IMO it's a hardware gimmick just like NFC. Sure it's cool, but functionally it's not superior to just plugging in (charges a little slower, too right?). It's not the speed difference in the processor, it's the refinement in the architecture, along with the newer, upgraded GPU that's the big deal. By your logic I should be just fine with a Snapdragon S3 from the likes of the HTC Vivid. I mean, heck, the clockspeed is almost identical.

Sense 5 is far more than blinkfeed, I guess you haven't watched any of the videos. Allow me to help you with that. Yes, the camera is still unproven (technically), but HTC is to the point where you can expect camera performance to be stellar.

Conveniently didn't touch on the speakers at all. Do you never watch Youtube or do any type of media on your device that has sound? I'm really curious about that, since the front facing stereo speakers are a big deal if you do.

And before you think I'm just bashing wireless charging or the DNA I'm not. I've used wireless charging, and plugging and unplugging a charger takes maybe 5 seconds. I've also seen the DNA in person many times, and spent some time playing around with one. It's a great piece of hardware, and if I had one I'm not sure I'd be looking at the One. The One is superior in a few ways, which I outlined above, but that doesn't mean DNA owner's should be upset. If someone doesn't have a DNA and are trying to decide between the DNA and One, then the One is the winner. Hands down. It's better in the things that matter, and the things it doesn't have compared to the DNA are inconsequential.

Hard to please Kevin? Is this personal for you Kevin?
Apple has announced that they will going to wireless charging, just as Samsung has. It is much more convenient to use. Instead of putting the phone down and plug it in, then unplug it and pick it up,, you just put it down and pick it up, who cares if it's slower. It also saves on the wear and tear of the usb port, which can be, and I do use for my usb flash drive. Yet you say it's a gimmick? What do you suppose those two front facing speakers are? You mentioned that I didn't say anything about the speakers, the reason they weren't brought up is because where the speakers are is irrelevant as long as I can hear my phone. And yes I have seen every YouTube video that has anything to do with the ONE, so I know exactly what to expect, so don't talk to me like a first grader my friend considering I've probably been working with technology since you were just a sparkle in your daddies eye.

Just an FYI, I wouldn't turn down any HTC phone, they make the best phones on the market.

The difference in processor frequency is minimal but the benchmark scores are seeing a considerable difference. The DNA has a quad at 1.5 Ghz while the One has a quad at 1.7Ghz meaning there is a 13.333% increase in processor speed between the two processors. However, according to benchmarks that have been released the DNA sports a 8,173 score in Quadrant while the One has 11,746 score meaning there is a performance increase of 43.717%.

The page with the benchmark information is linked to below, but this shows beyond a doubt that even though the difference in processor speed is minimal, the phone itself will be considerably faster.

EDIT: The Antutu score show an increase in performance by 17.48%, CF-Bench 35.525%

Personal? No. I've NEVER had a USB port go bad, though I do know it happens. A link to a reputable source about Apple going to wireless charging would be awesome. I DO care that it's slower, though, and I'm sure there are others that also care (probably the same people that want a removable battery, but I digress). I'll take a solution like what Qualcomm has for their newer chipsets over wireless charging (QuickCharge, it's noticeably faster to charge a phone) any day. The front facing speakers are not a gimmick. They are in a legitimately better place for the user and having them on the front is superior in absolutely every way that I can think of that would involve using speakers on a phone (if I'm missing a way speakers would be used, please add it). So, that being said, the speaker PLACEMENT is completely relevant to whether you can hear your phone or not.

I also love HTC hardware, and I honestly feel like DNA owners got the short of the stick by Verizon, since I find it hard to believe that they had no idea that the One was right around the corner.

And please, tell me how long you've been working with technology has any bearing whatsoever on the merits of the One vs any other phone. That's like saying you've been driving longer than someone else therefor they can't possible know more about driving (or be better at it) than you.

I'm not trying to argue. But you're implying that wireless charging (and the One lacking it) all by itself makes everything else that the One does/has better than any other device null and void. My Nexus 4 has wireless charging, but that doesn't make it a better device than the One. On the contrary, I feel that the One puts the N4 to shame in the hardware department. I also understand that certain features are more important to some people than others, and if wireless charging is that important to you than cool. Choice is awesome.

Wireless charging is less convenient because you can't use your device while its charging. Say your phone is at 5% and you need to do something, but need to get it plugged in. Wireless charging is absolutely useless in that scenario. It's one that I've encountered several times, and it is truly less convenient than charging the old fashioned way.

What exactly was innovative about the s3? 2gig of ram? Some little software things? That's it. No new display. No new anything really. Just a good mix of what we already had.

I guess apple ppl(and arguably Samsung ppl these days) gauge innovation by number of units sold...

Can there not be an HTC thread without bashing Samsung when it doesn't apply? It's getting pathetic. When warranted, sure. But when it's forced it comes off sad. Just defend your HTC One based off it's own merits. Aren't there enough? You have to compare it to a phone that's 10 months old?

To be fair these devices aren't released in a vacuum. They WILL be compared to one another.

Well said Kevin, I can't understand how some people believe that bringing age into an argument somehow validates their point. Keep up the great work.

I love when old people think they know everything just because they've been alive older. Age does not always equal wisdom.

4. What does the HTC button on the bottom of the phone do?

Not a damn thing, because it's just a logo. Not a button.

Okay, thanks, so we don't really know how it works on the hardware side yet. As I said before, I eagerly await to see what the modding community comes up with.

Apple has innovated more than Android? When? You do realize 75%+ of mobile devies run Android, right? I wouldn't call that dominating.

You are literally, embarrassingly clueless.

I completely understand and agree with what you're saying. I switched over from an iPhone 4S. When I was at Verizon, I originally went to upgrade to iPhone 5 but I didn't notice anu difference from the phone I already had. I was quite disappointed sooo I went over to the Droid section just to see what was there.

I fell in love with the DNA the second I saw it. I have no idea why I had the iPhone up to that point. I was even more impressed with the HTC Windows Phone 8x than the iPhone 5.

I currently have the DNA and I'm never looking back. The best decision I made.

So he has no problem calling someone young and using it as a point in his favor but calling him old is over the line. Tsk tsk, you should know better LegalAmerican.
Enough with the personal digs. I don't want to see any more of how old anyone is - you're all old enough to not ruin this thread.

You implied that you were older by referencing me being young (do you really have any idea how old I am anyway?).

This post just wasted your time.

Just like this thread.

People, buy what you want. Don't waste your time preaching to others about why they should or shouldn't buy a product. Let advertising dollars do the work.

Good morning Kevin, the reason I brought up the length of time I've been involved in technology is because reading your earlier post, I read it as you didn't think I had a clue about technology, which after rereading maybe not so much, so as far as relating specially to the DNA vs the ONE discussion the length of time I've been involved in technology is irrelevant. As far as the wireless charging, we'll have to agree to disagree. To find the Apple announcement I would have to go through the many tech sites that I read every day, if I can find it, I'll gladly send it to you. Now, as far as your phone comparisons, I think the DNA is a lot closer to the ONE than the X and its many variations. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Now the something thing I wanted to bring up. How did the quality of Samsung and Apple get tied into this post? All Kevin and I were talking about was wireless charging.
