Welcome to Android Central! Is that contact using an iPhone? If so, did you ever use an iPhone? You have to make sure your number is completely removed from the iMessage server when you move from iPhone to Android.
So, if someone else has an iPhone, *they* have to change *their* settings for me to be able to reply to their text to my Pixel2? That seems like a lot to ask of my friends and associates.
That's not what I was saying. If you ever used an iPhone and iMessage, and if you're not currently receiving texts from people with iPhones, then you have to make sure your phone number is removed from the iMessage server, since it might otherwise cause confusion. It's an annoying Apple issue. https://www.androidcentral.com/issues-texts-after-moving-android-iphone-here-s-easy-fix
