Not updating to ICS?

Do you guys think ICS will run any slower on the nexus s? If so I kinda want to stay with GB. It may sound crazy but I'm basically in love with how my phone performs right now and as much as I love the new features of ICS, it wouldn't be worth it to me if there is a performance drop. What do you guys think?

That's how I feel

You guys have to remember the Hardware Acceleration though, so I feel like it may end up running as smooth, if not more smoothly.

"Hardware Acceleration" sounds like a load of crap to me. I'm happy with the phone now, don't get me wrong.

I can't see any significant "hardware acceleration" happening but what do I know... I'm just a carpet salesman.

It's not a load of crap. Do some in-depth research to understand the process behind it, and then go use an iPhone or a WP7 phone next to an Android phone. Just by navigating the phone overall, you'll see the difference- hardware acceleration makes for a much more fluid and smooth experience.

So you don't want your phone to run faster/better?

Truth. I was just saying in general I thing gingerbread runs pretty damn smooth. So I was just curious. But I've been reading the SDK port of ICS and people are loving it. So I take that as a great sign. Lol. Ill def be upgrading as soon as its out.

Personally, I really curious to see how the whole battery life thing will work out, which frankly, I haven't heard much about. Right now the GB battery life is OK. I'm not doing that many tweaks although I'm generally getting 24+ hours with limited use and 8-10 on days when I'm out of the office using it heavily. I would hope that I get at least that amount on ICS, but my experiences on these types of changes have been either:

1. New OS takes up more resources and reduces battery life

2. New OS just runs stuff better and increases battery life

I know that's way oversimplifying it, but just wanted to throw that into the mix. Plus, I know that you can really tweak battery life with kernels, ROMs, etc., but what I'm really talking about a baseline difference between GB and ICS. Then we can talk about tweaks to see how far it can really be taken.

What phone do you have?! I get 2 hrs heavy use max! Nexus S 4G.

two hours max of heavy use!!?? Good lord. That's pretty bad. I go at least 4-5 hours before I need to recharge if I'm using it that much, and a good 8-10 hours on a normal business day, with bad reception in the office, and emails and texts constantly coming in and going out.

Sounds like someone needs to take a course in device management... 2 hours of heavy use and battery gone?

Maybe if your watchin a movie, listening to music and downloading some stuff while you have 30 processes running in the background...

Seriously, the NS4G has some great battery life stock or rooted... I've been around this game long enough to know what I'm saying too..

Do we have any idea when ice cream sandwich will be officially released for ns4g?
Google said at the ICS/Galaxy Nexus unveiling within a few weeks of Galaxy Nexus being released it would start to become available for the older Nexus line...
