Note 10+ Fingerprint failure CONTEST! - Post your number of failed attempts!

Okay. Well, I'm out of ideas. It's possible you just have a bad device. Have you considered a warranty replacement?

I would consider a warranty replacement if the fingerprint sensor doesn't work 100% of the time. Instead, it works when it feels like it...to mock me, I'm pretty sure.

Additionally, I'm also switching back and forth in using face recognition which I have found to be 100 percent reliable. If face recognition didn't work (along with fingerprint), then I would certainly send in my phone for repair/replacement.

How did you manage 20 consecutive failed attempts without your phone locking itself out? If mine fails 5 times consecutively, it makes me put in my password manually.

But it's not supposed to be like that. Mine works all the time. I'd get it swapped out.

Actually (at least on my phone) after 5 attempts you are forced to either put in your PIN or wait 20 seconds before attempting fingerprint again. So it's possible.

I haven't tried to make it fail more than 5 times, but on my 5th intentional fail it put up a countdown above the PIN keypad showing that I'd have to wait before trying the fingerprint again. My guess is that the OP simply waited the required 20 seconds and continued to try the fingerprint.

There is also an option in the settings to wipe the device after X number of consecutive failed attempts. That's for folks that really want to prevent someone from brute forcing their way into the device trying to guess the PIN. That option is OFF by default.

Totally annoying!! Even after the update I deleted my finger prints and added them again. I still get rejected by my own phone lol

Haven't counted as it hasn't been necessary, only failures I have had has been my own fault

This is why I never have and never will use the fingerprint sensor. :D
Plus I have an irrational fear of someone chopping off my finger and stealing the phone, LOL!! (I watch too many movies).
Key word: irrational...

Only time i failed waa when i was too fast in lifting my fingers. Or i accidentally used the wrong finger...

Almost 10 years ago I had a Corporate Owned Blackberry that was like that...after 10 failed attempts, it would completely wipe itself.

As a Blackberry Administrator, that was the way that we would Factory Reset that Blackberry phones that we got back from employees that had either left the company or upgraded their devices.

Not sure how it would work with factory reset protection in place. Ideally it would wipe the device's data, but still require the correct PIN before allowing someone to reset the device for a new user. That way a thief would have less incentive and/or a potential buyer of a stolen device would know something is up!

Edit: Ah, looked it up. It's activated by having a Google account activated on the phone. If someone resets the device without permission, before they can run setup the phone will prompt for the original Google account credentials.

I see these 2 words often every day "No match".

I feel like I'm on Match.com telling me I have no dates for today! Loser...

I got swiped left...or was it right? ...oh wait that's for Bumble.

Looking for love in all the wrong places... :-(

Giving you credit for the match comment. It made me laugh.

I have no issues with my fingerprint sensor though.

Wow, turning off the battery optimization helped a lot. It used to take several attempts to unlock my phone, but one attempt to log into apps that use a fingerprint.
