Note 10+ won't use headphone mics

I'm having an issue with my Note 10+. When connected by BT, it won't use the headphone mic on any pair of headphones I connect. These same mics work fine on other devices.

I've tried clearing the device cache and removing and re-adding my various BT headphones. No luck. When connected, the BT settings say that the devices are connected for calls and audio.

I really don't want to do a factory reset because that takes hours to restore. I hate how Android can't universally restore all apps, settings, and passwords.

Any advice on a fix?

Which brand Bluetooth you using?

Try checking Bluetooth history any apps there to control it and also try safe mode while using the BT

I moved this from the S10 forum to the Note10 forum.

Do you have any other Bluetooth devices connected at the same time?

I have had a couple of Sony BT neckband, in ear headsets that people said they could not hear me verry well on calls when not at home. Phone would have been in my shirt pocket so if it was using phone mike that would explain it. Supposedly top notch headphones and the sound quality was excellent but can'y have a headset that people can't hear you on calls.

I really hate the way protocols change between phones and headsets. Note 8 one headset would play my ring tone in both headset and phones but on the 10 not play the tone on phone if headset connected which is rubbish as I might not have the earphones in ear. Another set connected will play my ringtone on the phone and a different tone on the earphones. Various combinations of this where one headset will behave differently between the note8 to the 10 and another will behave differently to that but the same on both devices.
There are apps that successfully switch to BT after connection and those that don't. There are even voice comms apps that disconnect BT on connection requiring you to turn it back on in the app once connected.

Given all that it is not surprising if some headset connection routines forget to use the mic on the headset instead of the phone one. Didn't even think that would be the issue for my sony headsets. The Senheiser replacement is better than both for sound though and much more comforable.
