Note 20 Ultra Subpar Camera; Needs Software Update?

I assume they learned their lesson on focus from the S20 Ultra, I am guessing the camera will be very good. Early reviews seems to think so.

Knowing Samsung it likely is. They wouldn't change production half way through to change their screen protector.
The way I saw it removed in a video it seemed like a temporary film....not that the Samsung screen protectors are that great to begin with.

I'm hoping some improvements for the Note 20 camera. I have the S20 Ultra and I love it but the focus on close up things bothers me. Hard to take pictures of my products, I end up switching back to my Pixel 4 XL.

Early reviews say auto focus seems great

Looking that the reviews I will call BS on your personal review. The reviewers have pointed out the very clearly the S20 camera isn't as good as the Note 20 Ultra. But you are welcome voice your opinion. If the camera was wasn't as good all the reviewers would be reporting the same thing. huh!

:)

Weakening sharpening does not equal poorer pictures. Actually Samsung has always been criticizing for always overprocessing and over saturation where the competitors are praised for having the more natural look.

Samsung was the leader of overprocessing and over saturation when it was popular in the days of TouchWiz.

Saying "more natural" sounds like an improvement.

Gonna be a lot of opinions on this... I guess we're gonna have to see what DXOMARK ranks it based on "science" over personal opinion. :D

That totally is saying that the pictures from the N20U are better due to the decreased sharpening. Over-sharpening is not a good thing.

Sooooo disappointed. Was so excited to get my Note 20 Ultra and when it arrived yesterday I was really disappointed with the camera. Pictures are overexposed and washed out looking AND the AR Emoji on my Note 8 was much better too. Think I'll be returning. I don't like iPhones but the camera is a huge feature for me and I just haven't had Samsung that has lived up to my expectations. 😕 Sigh.

That's pretty nasty. Calling a user's personal experience BS. I call BS to your OPINION BS.

So I went to Best Buy to look at the Note 20 Ultra and I compared the camera side by side with the S20 Ultra and A50. The Note 20 Ultras Camera was a little disappointing as it wasn't as detailed as the other phones. Hopefully a software update can improve this.

You were using a retail model

Well for starters if you are an avid photographer you shouldn't be only using your cell phone for taking pictures. However since the Note 20 Ultra is a brand new phone Samsung likely has a few things they still need to work out, and without a doubt the camera software is doing to be one of those things.

I am not an avid photographer although I do use my DSLR for travel and other special occasions. I like using my cell camera a lot when I'm out and about and for selfies. The selfies to me look almost like a painted version of a picture. The rear camera is much better but same washed out look when taking photos of people. Outdoor photos of scenery look much better. Thanks for the response
