Not sure is this is common knowledge but when going through the camera settings I noticed that you have the option to turn off the shutter sound.

No phone I've had in the past few years has had this option without root or some other work around..

Not seeing this option. Carrier specific perhaps? I know that option was removed via update with my Sprint Note 2.

I have a tmobile phone. Once you in the settings dialog go to the list on the right side is at the bottom of the list.

It's carrier specific. My S3, Note 2, and Note 3 all had/have this option even without rooting. IIRC, Sprint is one of the carriers that doesn't allow for muting the shutter sound in order to protect the privacy of others.

That's a fail and control thing with Sprint. You can simply mute the shutter sound by muting the phone.

Not true with the previous versions.. Even if the phone was muted it would still click.

my DROID phones and my S4 allowed you to turn it off.....

I was a sprint user for years and didn't even realize it was specific to them

Where do you do this?
Up until now, I have had iPhones and before that it was Nokia.
I have always had this option.

Can seem to find it in my Note3 though.

Also, how do I change my email address in the play store?

You can turn the phone volume down and the shutter sound will be off when you take a picture

(With root) You can replace the original click sound files with silent ones (I didn't try deleting altogether) and this does silence it (it doesn't seem to at first as you still hear the click sounds).
It just takes time for the change to occur even after a switch off/on.

Verizon does not allow for that. Didnt allow it on my S3 either. TMobile does though.

Camera FV app will mute it though in app

My Verizon note 3 doesn't have the option to turn it off but I put my phone on vibrate and the shutter is silent

You can use an app like "enforced stream silencer". Just Google it
