Note 3: What are people actually using the S Pen for?

Re: What are people actually using the S Pen for?

Hi. Could you point me sometime to where I can get more info on the Wacom test in *#0*#. I caught your post on this in an S-Pen calibration (how to) thread some weeks ago when I was voluntarily off the forums. That was a good pointer (no pun!).
My S-Pen always felt a little off, especially when I have the on-screen guide dot turned on. It passes the S-Pen hovering test, but it causes a Fail with the first touch on any diagonal box in the Wacom test, then passes on all the rest. Curious if I can improve it, more than bothered. Thanks.

Try changing the tip on the pen for starters just to see how that works out.

Yup. I will try that tomorrow. Hardly used the pen but the nib might be off. Didn't want to open the tips bag, lol.

I know nobody ever thinks they would ever need to open the bag op nibs to begin with but with my actual Wacom Tablet if the pen would be off a change of nib or even simple removal and putting it back in would reset it. Try that take the nib out and put it back in.

Re: What are people actually using the S Pen for?

Here are the ways I use my pen on a regular basis:

1. Action Memos (occasionally scrapbbook and S Note)
2. I will cut and paste something I have on my screen to send to someone else (biggest use of my S Pen)
3. Data entry with Evernote
4. Screen prints
5. Occasionally for writing a text message vs typing
6. Writing on the back of pictures

So much this. At first I wasn't really using the pen but have starting using it more and more for pretty much everything.

How do you write on back of pictures? Are you annotating them ?

I rather enjoy the easy clip feature, kinda discovered it by accident, but to do it hold down the button and draw a closed shape (circle, rectangle, etc) around what you want and the easy clip menu pops up, allowing you to send what you've "cut out" via a ton of options such as messaging, email, etc.

When looking at a picture in your gallery push menu, then photo note. The picture flips over and you can write all over

Yes. I use this a lot too. When I first got the Note 2 I remember thinking that this was the greatest thing ever. Lol.

Wow cool! Never knew it did that. Thanks everyone for the great ideas!

A lot of us never knew.
Off thread, but the best toy it has for me still is replaying a full Surround Mode spherical camera shot by manually moving the screen around and up and down with the aid of the Gyro sensor. It appears as if you still are in the same spot. It will start to replay the shot as a moving panorama on screen until you hit the pause icon.
Thanks also to @KJ11 for showing Surround mode was different to (360) Panorama mode, which I thought then was the best.
Then, I still play with Lego. :)

I use it to copy and paste text. For some games. I write notes at work with it. Screenshoting and editing pictures. Showing off. Haha

Definitely plan to try all that camera stuff when the weather gets warm (if ever) so I can go down to the beach and catch a sunrise.

Re: What are people actually using the S Pen for?

I've had my Note for about 2 months now and the more I play with it and find ways to use the S Pen, the more I am totally amazed by it. There's just nothing quite like it. The scary thing here is that it will only get better. What do you suppose we'll see with the Note 4? It used to be that it was Apple that would "wow" us with their iPhone. Well I say no more. Nothing wows me more than this Note 3 when I see all that it does. Amazing.

Re: What are people actually using the S Pen for?

Action memo is like a sticky note. Good for quickly jotting down a name or phone number or address. Then can call, text, add a contract using what you hit down..I can do that faster than typing. S note is for longer noted that you can covert your writings into text.

Use mine for writing on Whatsapp...some of the uses described on here are definately worth a try!

Re: What are people actually using the S Pen for?

So glad I actually remembered to use the pen window when I was on a web site and needed to know how much 60% of something was. Pulled up one of those pen windows with a calculator in it and used it the whole time I was on the web site. That was SO handy. It may seem like a little thing but it sure beats having to change screens to look at a calculator. Thank you Note 3!

Re: What are people actually using the S Pen for?

I must clean my phone 3 times a day. I started using the S-Pen just to keep the thing clean most of the day. I just cant stand a greasy phone.
