I believe that most cases will cover these gaps up.
OCD people like myself will have a hard time with the gaps though.

At least according to other comments and cites in this thread, it is on past Note models, even being specifically explained in the manuals. See post 52.
So, unless someone has an explanation as to why that's different than the current N4, it seems like (a) it's been around for awhile; (b) no one noticed or cared until this IT video went viral and people began assuming something awful.
I can see it now. "OMG. I'm looking at this thing now and it has a hole in the bottom. A HOLE big enough to stick a pen!. Who knows what could happen with that!?"

Being ever skeptical, since Samsung has listed this "gap" issue as "normal" in the user manual they nor the carrier of retailer needs to replace a unit with this "gap" issue.
Whether or not it is an issue to a given individual is a personal call. I personally would prefer a $700 - $825 tool to be both functional and cosmetically appealing. So I have decided to purchase my Note 4 personally at a retailer or my carrier and leave happy with the purchase. But that's just me.

The part about people only caring after it went viral even though things like logic, in apples case, and the fact that it's in the Samsung manual, point to the possibility.

Well of course people care when it goes viral .. Most wouldn't know otherwise. It is normal .. everyone knew the "bending" iPhone thing would disappear. I don't see that much talk about it except here and there .. And most review sites agree ... Can it bend? Sure ... Will it under normal use? Chances are slim.
Yea exactly. I hoped that the Note gap nonsense wouldn't go viral and thankfully so far it hasn't , because all of this stuff is just stupid and annoying and overblown.

On a side note I am trying to talk my buddy with an iPhone 6 (not the plus) into using SwiftKey. He likes the dark theme .. He is just worried about the privacy warning. I told him SwiftKey is upfront about what they collect / don't collect ... we will see what he does. I tried to tell him they are trustworthy ^_^.
The privacy warning was a bit alarming when I first read it, it's going to scare a lot of people away from custom keyboards. However, I've used swiftkey on both android and iOS, and the auto correction is terrible.
The iPhone keyboard is actually the best keyboard I've used and that's surprising. I still have swiftkey installed however for one handed use so I can "flow" when needed.

There is no privacy issue with Swiftkey. But they are required to issue that warning.

For the record, all I did was discuss the MERITS of this situation in response to someone who asked a factual question ("If it is a feature, then why isn't it on their other models?"). I didn't bring Apple into it. Someone else did and that was a non sequitur.
I would note, though, that bending phones are in fact a defect if it happens, which it evidently did. Whereas this gap doesn't actually seem to be if one credits the manual quoted in this thread. So, in the Samsung instance you actually have people actually complaining about a build feature and calling it a defect, which is not quite the same thing. If you want to compare and all....
