Note 4 is dead, won't boot into safe and fresh batteries don't help.
It got too hot to the touch during charging last night and won't turn on in any way. Need to get contacts off and transferred, otherwise don't care about the phone. I need ideas for say, bypassing an assumed charger port failure and getting data off device storage?

if you care about the contacts only, they should've been backed up and you can get them back from your google account.

Welcome to Android Central! This will work if the contacts were saved to your Google account, but won't work if they were all saved to the local Phone account only (which doesn't sync anywhere). If they were saved to your Samsung account and you were syncing them to your Samsung Cloud, then you could restore them to another Samsung device, but I'm not sure if you can access them directly from Samsung Cloud.

You can tell if your contacts were synced to your Google account by going to contacts.google.com on your desktop browser.
