Note 4 Message Sound Issue

I have a problem on my otherwise lovely new Note 4. It does not play sound when I receive messages! My family and I have tried everything to get it working. Looked up known issues and found other Samsung Users have same problem on newer devices! Tried all suggested options to no avail! Can anyone help please? Checked all relevant sounds and apps etc are correctly set. Soft booted - still nothing grrrr!

Go into system settings > sounds. Make sure the sound volumes are all the way up. Also, go into the messaging application > menu > settings > notifications. Make sure the app has an identified notification ringtone and that you have the notification option checked.
