I was just wondering if the video stabilization option in the camera settings is the same as optical image stabilization? I was under the impression that OIS was an always on feature.

Re: Video stabilization option in camera settings

One is a software solution while the other is a hardware feature. The optical image stabilization in the camera is hardware and always working.

In the camera tap the settings cog icon, tap the three dot overflow menu button, tap recording mode - there you will find slow, fast and smooth motion
Tap the same settings cog icon, tap the wand icon - there you will find the filters

No cog to tap

You running your phone in Easy Mode? Go into phone settings, tap Easy Mode and then select Standard Mode and then done to save and exit. You will only have basic camera options in Easy Mode.

Good question. Don't know why the need for a video stabilization setting in the camera settings menu if the N4 is supposed to have OIS.
