The two buttons next to the home button won't light up when used. I've tried playing with power saving modes and looking for the touch key light duration setting but to no avail. I've also tried the galaxy button lights app but that didn't work ither.

Goto settings, then display, then "Touch Key Light Duration" There, make sure its not set to "always off"

If on Verizon, that is one more option that big Red removed. I got the program Galaxy Button Lights by NotQuiteinsane from the play store.

This setting

Interesting, I just found that mine was set to "always off" so I set to "6 seconds" and they still don't light. When it boots up, I get a very, very quick blink, but that's it. (AT&T)

Try always on to see if it will make a difference

Pull down top bar where you see time/mobile network /Wireless network, make sure (power saving) is unticked, now you will see back light button light up, hope this helps.
