Note 5 Battery life thread

I have a Note 5 on AT&T. I believe since the last update back in October, I have noticed GPSD has been showing up in my battery usage with 10% or higher. I do not remember seeing this before. I do not see much talk about GPSD at all.

Care to show us a photo of what you mentioned mate.

For some reason, today Google play services is at the top of the list. I haven't changed anything, so I'm not sure why this is draining my battery all of a sudden :/

I got my replacement from AT&T. So far battery is where it should be

Can you elaborate on that some more please?

Like what was your battery life on your old one compared to the replacement, and anything else that might of changed?

The biggest thing I noticed in this thread and from my own personal experience, is that this phone has as severe WiFi bug. Battery life tanks for most people when they leave WiFi on.

That isn't normal something is eating your battery, cause i have slept 7 to 8 hrs with 100% and when i have woken up i would be at 97 % or 96 %, and i leave my phone always on wifi, so something is eating your battery.

How in the crap can I tell whats using up the battery usually leave it on all day then charge it over night but trying to go a different route with this phone since it don't need to charge for 8 hrs with the fast charger I deleted a few apps that I had but don't use I will see how that goes tonight.

I tried out the new settings and my phone in a period of 6 went from approximately %20 to 5% without me even being on the phone and Android system was number 2

It was at first. I ended up getting 4 hours of screen time before I recharged it around 20%-15% but then I recharged it but not fully and it drained alot overnight. I ordered a Mophie case for my Note 5

Does using app optimization for too many apps kill the battery ironically?

This morning I woke up to a 40% drop from 68% to 20 something. I had just uninstalled some games from Amazon, and also removed the Christmas theme. Thought those might be the problem. Problem persisted. I was getting 2-3 hours of battery (screen off AND on)
So before leaving this morning, in a feat of frustration, I turned off app optimization (I had about 20 apps optimized because the more the merrier, right?). Well guess what, I left the phone on my desk after charging it up to 100, and 7/8 hours later, it was... 95%. After that, anytime I lock my phone, standby time has been good, showing a nice flat curve on the graph. Before it was a bunch of zigzaggs downward even though the screen was off.

At this point, I am convinced that the app optimization was the problem. Can anyone confirm?

Here was last night I think it was better

I lost 15% last night over 6 hours. Some nights i lose 3 or 4 %, some night 15 or more. I don't understand unless it's just the cell standby. Now it shows 26% of use. See pic.

Just yesterday my phone has started acting up. My battery life was great, suddenlyrics Google Play Services (10%), Android OS (7%) and Android System (6%) have been sapping my battery, for reference the screen is at only 3%. Was occurring even while phone was in standby, but Juice Defender fixed that. Still running into the problem while the phone is on. Removing the battery/restarting has not helped. Phone is not rooted, no new apps installed recently, apps are up to date, no syncing issues.

So what Note 5 is this last time i remember you can't remove the battery, just saying from your comment .

I'm starting to wonder if the batteries in the Note 5 are becoming defective. Over the last month or so my battery life is getting worse. At times my battery percentage will be at 7%, and literally drop to 3% skipping 6,5,4%. My bought my phone on release day.
