Note 5 Battery life thread

How it used to be... Both mobile network and WiFi would be used at once. Notice both 4g and WiFi symbol are lit up

Well that was short lived. WiFi and data are both on again -__-

Hmmmm. Oddest thing. When I restarted the phone, the problem came back. But when I turned off the phone and then turned it back on myself (instead of restarting), the WiFi and mobile network are working separately again

My battery has been horrible...upgraded to Verizon 6.0.1 yesterday and maybe not draining as fast...any thoughts?

I updated to MM this morning (Verizon). Android System shows as 10.9% for me in GSAM Pro. I'm not going to make any conclusions about whether this, or any of the other app utilization statistics are good or bad until I've used the phone for at least a week.

Have an out of state business trip coming up, and expect there to be varying cell signal coverage/strength, and overall phone usage patterns that are different from my typical week (workdays and weekends); so will see how Doze and MM overall perform.

That won't be a normal week for me though, so it will probably be the week after to get a good feel for battery life.

My battery life is much better. I couldn't be happier! Finally, now I have NO complaints about this phone anymore. The battery life was my only complaint, and the only thing I missed about iPhone. But now, I'm team Samsung all the way :)

Hopefully this comes out for Sprint soon. I presume we have to enable all the Package Disabler Pro packages we disabled before updating?

I actually have a PDP app update waiting for me right now. Do I have to enable those packages to update the app?

No, you don't have to enable anything that you disabled in order to update the app itself.

Now as for updating the OS, yes, you have to enable everything you disabled. At least this is what I've always heard.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

You're right.

I didn't enable anything I disabled before I updated to MM...I forgot actually. Everything seems to be performing fine except my battery life has been HORRID since I took the upgrade. As I use the phone I can watch the percentage drop and drop and drop...I suppose I should do a factory reset. Question though... I usually backup with Samsung's software on my Mac. After that I'll factory reset...Is it advised that I shouldn't restore from that backup, or is that ok to do? I just want to make sure whatever may be causing this battery drain doesn't get restored along with all my data.
My personal opinion, just so everything starts all fresh, i would do a factory reset.

I could use you guys' help here. Same old story, my Note 5's battery life was stellar until a couple of weeks ago, when I woke up to a dead phone even though I had gone to bed with it at 50% battery. I didn't think much of it, until I tested it again a week ago and noticed that my phone went from 60% down to 9% overnight. I've tried everything: factory resets, wiped cache, enabling ultra power saving mode, installing a battery monitoring/optimizing app, and I still can't go beyond 12-14 hours on a single charge with light use, and like I said, this didn't use to be the case. As you can see from the screenshots, the main culprit seems to be Android System. Any ideas on what I could do to fix this issue?

P.S. Hope I'm on the right thread, it's my first time posting here...

I have the exact same scenario. Except,my battery stopped being good in November. Can't fix it, literally tried everything.

Others will probably want to know the model of your phone or carrier, how much Screen on Time you had in the screenshot (although you used a charger in the evening in that screenshot), and I've read plenty of times in this thread to not use battery optimizing apps with this phone. Possibly try downloading GSAM Battery Monitor and post a screen shot after a day's usage of the main screen and of the app usage page before you have to charge the phone.

Mine has changed for the worse too in recent days. I just disabled some more **** on Package Disabler Pro. And I re-disabled Facebook even though it wasn't showing up on any GSAM or Battery readings.

Main culprit is Android System too. On Sprint, mostly on wifi throughout the day. Not too much use. Barely an hour of screentime. Today my battery went from 100 to 13 in about 11.5 hours.

I can live with 14-15 hours instead of 20 hours (I have gotten 20+ sometimes, very infrequently) but 10-11 hours is not good enough for no real change in usage pattern.

*shrug* I just don't get why it's so inconsistent.

i am in the same boat as you. my note 5's (920G) battery life took a turn for the worst after the december security update. the main culprit is the android system i mean these days i have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day just so that it can last till 11-12 pm. my phone would be at 50-60 % when going to bed but i wake up to a dead phone. this is beyond acceptable. i have started a kind of a campaign against samsung india on twitter tagging all android news sites hoping for a response from samsung. i have come to point where i am no longer even interested in keeping this phone. i have asked samsung for a refund. being a lawyer, i wont hesitate to take samsung to court if nothing is done about my problem.

Hey guys. So I did a test with my note 5. I charged to 100% before going to sleep. I woke up after approximately 8 hours and had 88% left. I did the same thing the following night and this time I put the phone on flight mode. Woke up and had 99% left. Phone was on wifi. This leads me to believe that it has something to do with the wifi connection. My wifi connection is really good. For wifi settings, I do NOT have "always allow scanning" on. Anything else I can do? I've downloaded package pro. Maybe there is something I can disable from there?
